JUST NOW: Mazie Hirono lays into Pete Hegseth to his face in a Senate hearing: “Given your checkered past, which included paying $50,000 in hush money to settle a sexual assault allegation against you and driving two Veterans organizations into the ground. After only months on the job, our concerns about you have proven true”

Sunday isn’t the solution. It’s Monday - Friday that seems to be the problem. If you can only work when “work” isn’t happening, then there’s a problem with how your work, works.

Hold up. If those creative jobs “hadn’t been there in the first place” how would these models have been trained?
Looking ahead, I don’t think any job is impervious to displacement by AI — not even developers. We’re all in this together. Yet artists are far more vocal than devs who’ve also had their data trained on.
The crucial difference is that there’s always been the starving artist meme, but not a starving developer. But perhaps soon there will be!

JUST BUILD MORE AFFORDABLE COUNCIL HOUSING.
IT IS ABOUT SUPPLY.
🚨 NEW: Labour have announced a new "freedom to buy" housing scheme, which would make the government a guarantor for those buying a house with a 5% deposit

The distance between each bombed WCK & the other shows beyond any doubt how the IDF took their time to deliberately & surgically eliminate the entire crew.
The 2nd car was bombed after it rescued the survivors of the 1st, & the 3rd after it rescued the survivors from the 2nd!

Today, we witness the total ISraeli destruction of the most important, 700 beds specialty hospital in Gaza, Al Shifa Medical Complex. It was established 78 years ago during the British Mandate, the name Shifa meaning 'The House of Healing'; now turned into a 'House of Death' by Israel and the US, burnt, totally destroyed to rubble and turned into a graveyard of patients, medical staff, relatives and refugees. A massive symbol of the heartless, cynical ISraeli politics of colonial occupation with the goal of elimination of the Palestinian people, their social institutions and their lives. US, EU, UK governments stand shamed, complicit by their support for ISraeli war crimes and atrocities against all humanity. Watch carefully the killing fields of Shifa, never ever forget the Gaza genocide, the perpetrators, and the complicit powers! Dr. Mads

This is the culmination of the decades-long dehumanisation of Diane Abbott in British political-cultural life. To stand up and be completely invisiblised, whilst
her own party discuss death threats against her, knowing they care nothing about her safety, is surreal to witness.
Diane Abbott has criticised the Speaker after he failed to call on her during today's Prime Minister's Questions, despite standing up 46 times.

Look in any direction in the UK economy today, you basically see different variations of the same thing: a small number of big companies taking the mick*.
(*economic rent, from ownership of basic essential goods and services)
Bumper profits at English private nursery chains run by private equity and investment companies.
More than £1 in every £5 spent ends up as profit.
It is the usual story of high debt, low wages to extract profits.
Workers, taxpayers foot the bill.

Taxes are for regulating the value of the currency (inflation), (dis)incentivizing behaviors, and altering the distribution of wealth and income.

It’s hard to comprehend the deaths of 12,800 children. We put up figures of children on our studio walls - one for each child killed in Gaza during the war.
They’re dying from airstrikes and now malnutrition and dehydration.
