As mentioned earlier, many social media sites are becoming more and more similar in terms of features. Twitter just recently launched its #TwitterFleets story feature, and many are commenting on how repetitive it had become.

Yesterday I received an email from @deciem stating that they would not be participating in Black Friday sales to not contribute to hyper-consumerism, which is one of many threats to our environment. 1/2

I find it commendable that @deciem is taking such a firm stance in their commitment to triple bottom line initiatives, and is the opposite of performative or ‘greenwashed’ initiatives, considering they are losing out on potential sales.

Today I learned that Instagram has a new ‘Vanish Mode’ in the direct messages, similar to Snapchat’s. I find it interesting how Instagram has managed to draw from features of other apps over the years almost identically, and still be one of the leaders. #canschufollowme

Although social media can be great for individuals to connect, and for businesses to sell, it can also do more harm than good when used in excess. After watching the video, I have made it a goal to do atleast one #dopaminedetox a month! Join me?

I started the Netflix show 'Emily in Paris', where an American goes to France to help a fashion firm with marketing. Something that resonated with the material in my SMM class is when Emily says "It's not just about follow count, its about engagement", very true!
