I wonder how many times WCNSF was written while we all slept in our beds.

Not sure these Saudi football contracts are going to help in the central banks’ fight against inflation.

Open question to people: how do you define a “digital asset” ? Criteria which come to my mind:  is it a cryptographically signed item of data? Does it need to be provided via a consensus mechanism Does it need to have a calculable value? #DigitalAssets

Someone from the NHS is about to come and take his shoes, and then he’ll have to pay up before he’s allowed to leave.

Imagine if #Picard season 3 had been the first one. Even the only one. How great would that have been. So many people will not watch the third season because of how bad the first and second were. It’s a real shame.

If don’t have one already, get yourself a second bank account from a different provider than your existing one. For those of us who live in inner cities without much garden space: this is called a hedge, and everyone should have one.

One question the #SVB story raises is what the concept of brand loyalty to banks really is. There are millions spent in this area each year, but when push comes to shove what is it really for? 🧵

The question of true loyalty then surely is about offering customers or clients the product they need when they need them, rather than an overcooked brand identity.

This is a huge challenge across product design, technology capability and financial management. The winners in the next generation of finance services will be those who tackle it head on.

I found a bank that has $1.5 Tn in mark-to-market losses because it bought Treasuries & MBS. For the first time in 107 years, this bank has negative net interest margin. Its losses are poised to exceed its capital base. Can you guess? The Federal Reserve... 🧵

This is a very important point about implications for the financial system based on how the SVB situation is handled. The thread is also great.

6. If the Fed doesn't own it, trust in the banking system becomes an issue. There are a ton of banks with more than 50 pct uninsured deposits. What would be best practices to protect from a future run if your company writes millions in checks weekly ?
