Long post alert! In case you don’t read everything, here’s a summary: “Never make Rwanda your enemy! It’s a poor long-term choice.” The US should learn from France’s mistakes. Rwanda may be small, but its spirit is immense, more than one can imagine. You cannot fight Rwanda and expect to win Africa on your side! It’s absolutely illogical and impossible. One thing is certain: those who committed the genocide against the Tutsi are cursed, and those who support them risk association with the same curse. Tshisekedi, who arms them, will meet the same fate. Supporting Tshisekedi, who arms them, is immoral and dangerous. On the other hand, if you choose Rwanda as a respectable partner, Rwanda can be such a great friend that you will gain friends everywhere you go. The diplomatic arrogant choices Washington is making might cost America a lot in the long run in this region and beyond, not because Rwanda is special or strong, but because Africans (except Tshisekedi and Ndayishimiye) know without a shadow of a doubt that Rwanda has been an inspiration, a model to emulate, and a credible friend. Fighting FDLR and its ideology is the right thing to do. Someone once said, “We might not have means, but we have ways.” Rwanda survived 1959, decades of exile, and the most horrible genocide in 1994. It rebuilt from absolutely zero in just three decades. I see people who make judgment mistakes to think that their problem in this region is President Kagame. To be honest, in 1990, they thought their problem was Rwigema, but they didn’t know that every Rwandan young boy and girl had that same spirit. It’s a Rwandan spirit it’s extremely contagious and transmissible from mother to daughter, father to son. Germans and Belgians colonized Rwanda for years, but they can tell you that the Rwandan spirit never bows. Sooner or later, you realize you are dealing with a people of dignity and purpose.
