I joke that my maps are horrible, because they usually are! So I’m doing the #30DayMapChallenge to dust off the cobwebs. I had to catch up so here’s day 1: points.

#30DayMapChallenge Day 5: A (my!) Journey! Today was a bit busy (nothing going on or anything...) so admittedly this is a bit phoned in. Where have I lived since the 2012 election?

Latest paper frm our @ESRC funded @CRESHnews 'lifecourse of place' study exploring how places through our lives affect healthy ageing gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=ES… Here in @molpsychiatry we use @EdinUniLBC brain imaging data to show area-level disadvantage affects brain morphology👇
Living in deprived areas is associated with structural differences in the brains of older people, as our study has shown using the @EdinUniLBC 🆕 publication in @molpsychiatry 🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠 nature.com/articles/s41380-0… 🧵

First dissertation paper is out! Older adults adapted their pre-pandemic spatial routines to their home, but many felt the intangible aspects of place could not be replaced by ICT equivalents. Spatial agency supports mental health: doi.org/10.1016/j.ssmqr.2024…

A final thought re that controversial @freep op-ed: when people call a place (however flawed) home, it feels personal when an outsider makes public, ill-informed negative critiques. To write a column that argues to take the main economic core from a city is cruel and tone deaf.

All Michigan cities share the same structural challenges. Pitting them against one another is pointless considering the decades of economic disinvestment, social struggle, & infrastructural failings. The article has many contradictions and outright lies… & tacos in Lansing rock?
