Innovative technology 🤝 hockey stars
Ahead of Monday Night Hockey, @NHLFlames players Connor Zary and Dustin Wolf helped Amazon associates for a day, getting customers their packages quickly and safely using AI technology. This @amazonca fulfillment center in Calgary:
📦 Leverages AI to cut custom cardboard boxes to minimize waste, with the ability to make a new box every 3.5 seconds
🤯 Can process up to 950K items in a single day
🤖 Uses Kermit, an autonomously guided cart (AGC), to move totes around the facility
🏒 Measures 2.8 million square feet, or about 153 hockey rinks

Here are some of the most recent highlights on how we’ve invested in Canada. ⬇️
1⃣ Since 2010, we’ve made direct investments in our Canadian operations of more than $50 billion. This includes both capital expenditures (such as the fulfillment centers and data centers we build) and operating expenditures (such as the jobs we create).
2⃣ These investments have helped us create more than 46,000 good jobs with competitive pay and benefits across Canada, at our corporate Tech Hubs in downtown Toronto and Vancouver and our close to 70 Operations and logistics sites from coast to coast.
3⃣ Amazon MGM Studios, as well as MGM Television and MGM+ Studios, have produced and commissioned more than 40 series and films that have been shot in Canada.
4⃣ 8,000+ front line Amazon employees have participated in Career Choice since the program launched in Canada in 2014. We’re empowering Canadians to discover exciting new career paths.

ICYMI: While @amazonca's physical location has been operating in Canada since 2011, on July 16, 2024, we were thrilled to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Amazon Fulfillment Centre-YYZ3 in @CityBrampton! Located at 7995 Winston Churchill Boulevard, this Traditional Non-Sort (TNS) centre has been a cornerstone of Amazon's operations in Canada since August 2014.
Of all Amazon packages shipped through Canada, 30 per cent pass through Brampton, highlighting the crucial role this centre plays in the Amazon network.
With approximately 600 dedicated employees, including a core group that have been there from the start, YYZ3 is a testament to hard work and innovation. We were also proud to welcome our country manager, Eva Lorenz, and have the @invest_brampton staff, Mayor @patrickbrownont, the Hon. Charmaine Williams, MPP for Brampton Centre and Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity and Jaipaul Massey-Singh, CEO of the @BramptonBOT to witness this significant event, underscoring the strong support and collaboration within our community.

This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to Alberta's growing appeal as a hub for business and innovation.
By bringing such significant investments to our province, we're not only creating thousands of jobs but also solidifying Alberta's reputation as a premier destination for global enterprises.
I’m glad we are all working together to boost economic growth, support a thriving business climate, and create a better future for every Albertan.
