Robinson: The enormous amount of money in US elections is a problem: hundreds of millions of dollars are thrown in. For me, the biggest problem with inequality is how it spills over into the political system rather than into the economy. 2/

🔴 Today , they released the first edition of the book "Princes and Thieves: Jared Kushner's and Mohammed bin Zayed's Secret Conspiracy to Reshape the Middle East." These are the most important points from its first chapter, where investigative journalist Matthew Cole reveals details of a secret meeting that brought together Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Jared Kushner in New York in December 2016, just before Trump's inauguration as president. This chapter outlines how the UAE leadership bypassed the Obama administration to reach directly into the inner circle of the president-elect, leveraging its network of financial and investment ties. Most crucially, the book uncovers what was discussed during the meeting regarding Qatar, Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Israel, along with the priorities that Abu Dhabi wanted the new administration to adopt. It also traces the role Kushner played in opening unconventional channels of communication, and how that meeting, according to the author's account, laid the foundation for a political relationship whose effects extended into subsequent years. 🔷 The book reveals a meeting that brought together Jared Kushner and Mohammed bin Zayed in the presidential suite at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan, after Trump's election victory and before his inauguration. Bin Zayed arrived with a delegation that included dozens of people, among them armed individuals. The meeting came after he decided to cancel a farewell banquet that had been scheduled with President Barack Obama at the White House. 🔷 The Emiratis offered no explanation for canceling his meeting with Obama, and the U.S. administration only learned of his New York visit after the State Department received notifications of his diplomatic travel itinerary. The author describes this action as a clear circumvention of diplomatic norms and a signal of the UAE leadership's shift in focus from the outgoing administration to the personal circle of the president-elect. 🔷 Mohammed bin Zayed enlisted the help of a New York-based hedge fund manager with financial ties to the UAE and a personal friendship with Kushner to arrange the meeting. This serves as an indication of how the UAE uses its investment network to access influential American political figures. 🔷 Kushner informed bin Zayed that the Middle East would be the top priority of the Trump administration's foreign policy, and that he would personally take charge of the diplomatic file on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Trump had selected him to handle these matters despite his lack of traditional diplomatic experience. Meanwhile, bin Zayed laid out his grievances to Kushner about U.S. policy over the previous eight years, viewing Obama's support for the Arab Spring uprisings—particularly the protests that toppled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak—as a betrayal of a key U.S. strategic ally. He explained that Washington's abandonment of Mubarak had heightened Gulf regimes' concerns about the reliability of American guarantees. 🔷 He further argued that the Obama administration's decision to end the U.S. war in Iraq had created a strategic vacuum that enabled the Islamic State to expand and control vast territories in Iraq and Syria. He presented this outcome as evidence of the weakness in U.S. policy in the region. He also told Kushner that the UAE faces two enemies threatening its existence: the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran. He viewed the first threat as political Islam, while the second stemmed from Iran's regional influence and its network of armed groups linked to Tehran. 🔷 He accused Qatar of providing significant funding to the Muslim Brotherhood and using Al Jazeera to stoke regional tensions and support extremist Islamist currents, according to his narrative. He informed Kushner that he hoped the new U.S. administration would address the Qatari problem. This passage reveals that the Qatar file was already on the table in UAE communications with the Trump in Dec. 2016.

Trump’s son secretly went on vacation with a Putin’s oligarch: The two went hunting together in Mongolia this August. Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Mongolia accompanied by the U.S. Secret Service and Republican donor Kevin Small. Later, Umar Kremlev flew in from Kazakhstan to join him, accompanied by businessman Artur Martirosov. As a reminder, Kremlev reportedly previously paid for Trump Jr.’s wedding in the Bahamas in secret. And we wonder why Trump is pro-russian?! Source: Financial Times

The global response to Musk and Trump's pressure on Ukraine, accompanied by a temporary shutdown of Starshield, was swift. Here's where things stand now: 🇨🇦 CANADA The Canadian government has signed a CAD 2.3 billion contract with national satellite operator Telesat to expand its Lightspeed low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation. Lightspeed was originally developed as a commercial competitor to Starlink and OneWeb. However, the government is now funding the integration of a dedicated, secure military communications system operating in the Ka-band and has already placed an order for additional satellites with Canadian aerospace company MDA Space. 🇫🇮 FINLAND Finnish company ICEYE, a developer of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites, and Nokia have announced a strategic partnership to develop sovereign LEO broadband communications systems for interested European governments. The project aims to provide European countries with a ready-made platform allowing each government to fully own and control its own satellite communications infrastructure, including encryption, without dependence on foreign providers. This concept is known as "Sovereign SatCom." 🇪🇺 EUROPEAN UNION The European Commission has moved toward awarding manufacturing contracts and increasing funding for its sovereign satellite communications network, IRIS². Airbus Defence and Space has already signed contracts in Toulouse to manufacture the first 66 LEO satellites. Thales Alenia Space has been tasked with developing specialized secure payloads for government applications. The program has been expanded to 348 satellites, with an additional €4 billion in funding. 🇰🇷 SOUTH KOREA South Korea has successfully conducted its first orbital launch of the year using its domestically developed Nuri (KSLV-II) rocket from the Naro Space Center. The rocket simultaneously deployed 14 payloads, including additional satellites for the national NEONSAT constellation and several military CubeSats. 🇯🇵 JAPAN Japan has allocated approximately $1 billion in subsidies to develop a nationally controlled direct-to-device satellite network. The system is designed to allow ordinary smartphones to communicate directly with satellites during major earthquakes or military conflicts. The project involves cooperation between Rakuten and AST SpaceMobile. 🇺🇦 UKRAINE The UASAT project, an initiative by STETMAN and a consortium of partners, has successfully completed registration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Preparations are now underway for the UASAT-NANO test satellite, which will mark the first step toward creating Ukraine's own sovereign satellite constellation. 🇨🇿 CZECH REPUBLIC At the same time, agreements with the Czech Republic are being finalized for the joint development of a constellation of optical reconnaissance satellites called Suziria ("Constellation"). Ukraine is also expected to gain access to backup capacity within Europe's GOVSATCOM system. 🇩🇪 GERMANY German company Isar Aerospace successfully launched its Spectrum rocket into orbit carrying satellites on September 5. THE BIG PICTURE The brilliant strategists Elon and Donnie wanted to show us who controls the red button for satellite internet. Well, they succeeded. And in a strange way, perhaps we should thank them. Because they have reminded the entire world of one simple truth: Whoever controls your communications can control your future. And now countries around the world are working to make sure that no single billionaire — or American president — can ever hold that power over them again.

FIRST ON CBS: As President Trump boasts about how much money the U.S. oil and gas industry is making from the war with Iran, the president's personal holdings in oil and gas are now worth between $22.5 million and $81.6 million, compared with $12.6 million to $46 million at the end of 2025, according to a new report by Democrats on the Congressional Joint Economic Committee. cbsn.ws/47IN9un

The Trump Administration is screaming “show me the money!” 1) Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, the UAE’s spy chief, bought 49% of Trump’s crypto company for $500 million, four days before the inauguration. 2) Next, the Sheikh just happens to be in the Trump investor group, lead by a $2 million Trump donor, bidding on $20 billion of Lukoil’s assets. 3) And in Alaska, a gas project started by Don Jr.’s college friend was secretly funded by Novatek — a Russian energy giant — through a UAE company. You don’t have to be a PhD student to figure out what’s going on. Any one of these deals would make an alderman in Chicago blush. As you keep paying more and more at the pump, the Trump family’s account is overflowing with billions.

ICE just locked up the man who feeds 8,000 Bronx neighbors a month, at his own immigration hearing. Now his food pantry is shut.🤬 Aleksander Nilaj, an Albanian immigrant who founded the Open Hand food pantry in the Bronx in 2012, showed up for his immigration hearing at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan. ICE agents detained him instead. He is now held at Delaney Hall, a detention center in Newark, New Jersey. bit.ly/4i8Uqse
