OpenAI just acquired Rockset to power RAG.
Rockset was founded in 2016 by an ex-Facebook team that built RocksDB, a fork of Google's LevelDB, an embeddable NoSQL DB written by Jeff Dean himself.
Over time, the 100 person co built hybrid search - vector (FAISS) and keyword.

OpenAI has appointed Paul M. Nakasone, retired US Army general and former NSA head, to its board of directors.
Nakasone, who led the NSA from 2018 to 2023, will join OpenAI's Safety and Security Committee.
He will help improve AI’s role in cybersecurity by detecting and responding to threats quickly.
His appointment follows concerns over safety culture at OpenAI.

😱 “He gave us inaccurate information about the small number of formal safety processes that the company did have in place.”
😱 “When ChatGPT came out, the board was not informed in advance about that. We learned about ChatGPT on Twitter.”
😱 “Sam didn't inform the board that he owned the OpenAI startup fund.”
My two cents:
This was inexcusable behavior on Sam's part, the old board was right to fire him, and the new board should fire him again.
