If you don't have enough time this week.... quit something. Seriously. I love updating my "not doing" list. Do you have one? It's liberating.

Crowning achievement was stealing the mayorship of the @Square office from @zamn in a covert op in 2011. Genuinely so much love for this app and what itโ€™s given me over the years. Thank you, @dens for the heart you put into it. Sorry to read about this outcome but what a run.
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/somโ€ฆ

OPENAI to EMPLOYEES: If someone is trying to seduce you, first consider โ€” could they be a spy??? OpenAI is warning its employees about honeypot spies and strangers with children in playgrounds ... a very fun one with @georgia_wells and @MeghanBobrowsky: wsj.com/tech/ai/ai-companiesโ€ฆ

Can I help you find some better stuff to read? (Or how to make your internet much more interesting.)

๐Ÿ The past few weeks Iโ€™ve been finding myself struggling with the seasonal transition, primarily the abrupt shift in light (or lack there of) in the early evenings. A few specific ways Iโ€™m trying to combat the seasonal blahs: Morning porch sitting (wrapped in a blanky) with my coffee. Usually a book. Sometimes my notebook. Iโ€™m going to try to keep doing this as long as I can this year, even into the winter. Walking in the evening even though itโ€™s easier to hunker down, and getting used to the earlier dark hours. 6-7pm is still my favorite time to walk. Iโ€™m getting back into the swing of bringing a light, a vest, and walking at the track after dark. Gearing myself back up to making evening sauna a more regular activity. Thereโ€™s a sauna in the womenโ€™s locker room at my gym. I tend to primarily lift at home in the summer, but Iโ€™m going to try to make a habit of getting over there now that fall is here. My red light mask is back in regular rotation. (Iโ€™m mildly skeptical about the overall skin benefits from intermittent use, but it works great to get in some brightness on dark evenings. Iโ€™ll also get back to turning on my light box (actually a photography light) in the afternoons. โ€“ From this week's Good Things Newsletter: more good stuff including my Fall Foods list here: samtackeff.substack.com/p/weโ€ฆ

Good Things, Today: โ€ข An autumnal dinner with friends: brought the "mini pumpkin" (actually a type of pepper?) florals. Salmon, fried chicken, grits, biscuits, salad, two types of apple crumble and buckle, Shain's of Maine vs. Tilamook vanilla showdown. โ€ข Sophia's + Super Vanak quick lunch trip with my mom while her tire was being patched. Cardamom sugar cubes! The yogurt! IYKYK. โ€ข Listening to Threshing Day on my run. Sometimes I just need to shut off my brain for dragons. The 6:07 sundown time was crushing my soul a little bit, but balanced out the dread by filling time with the stuff that matters.
