It's an honor to assume this responsibility. I look forward to upholding Reviews of Modern Physics' tradition as the venue for authoritative, foundational reviews across physics and staying responsive to the evolving landscape of modern physics & its connections to other fields.
Replying to @APSphysics
👋 Welcome Sujit Datta (@TheSquishyLab), new chief editor of @APS_RMP. He’s a professor at @Caltech exploring #SoftMatter physics, #FluidDynamics, and complex systems. Sujit’s award-winning research bridges #physics, #engineering, and #biophysics.

I think a good rule of thumb is to spend at least as much time thinking about your data as you did obtaining it. It's common for people to spend a lot less time thinking than doing which gives rise to all kinds of problems.
💧Excited to share our latest work on the many shapes of surface-attached active drops! Let us know what you think—we’d love to hear your feedback! arxiv.org/pdf/2411.14636
Excited to release our latest work, led by @almcalvo: arxiv.org/abs/2411.14636!
Here, we characterize the rich dynamics of surface-attached "active drops", and develop principles to predict & control their shape and motion (morphodynamics). 💧🦠

This month, I officially started as an Assistant Professor at @UCSanDiego. I’m thrilled to join the Department of Physics @UCSDPhysics and the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry in @UCSDPhySci. I’m especially excited to be part of the UCSD Biophysics faculty - a unique place I’ve personally long admired for cutting-edge research in the physics of living systems. Our interdisciplinary group will focus on theoretical and computational studies of soft and living matter. If you’re interested in pushing scientific boundaries, join us at the beautiful seaside UCSD campus! Getting to be a part of the Physiology course as a faculty instructor (along with the amazing @almcalvo @ctrenado_yuste @sesgonzalez as TAs) was a real treat!
It was intense, exciting, and inspiring.
Thank you to @brangwynnelab and @GladfelterLab for your amazing leadership.
Nice @MBLScience article featuring myself+@GladfelterLab #MBLPhysiology and others:

📢Excited to share our latest work @NatureComms: doi.org/10.1038/s41467-024-4…. Here, we show that minimal elastohydrodynamic networks can exhibit rich, emergent collective phenomena, such as memory effects! We term this element a 'fluidic memristor' (tweetorial below).
This was an awesome, serendipitous, and long collaboration with Matthew Biviano and Anneline Christensen in the lab of @jensenresearch on the experimental side, and with the labs of @katifori and Miguel Ruiz-García (miguelruizgarcia.eu) on the theory/simulation side.
