meditations on moloch by @slatestarcodex is one of the most important essays of the last decade. it explains why so many systems end up in outcomes no one wants. 👹 moloch is the name we give to the invisible force that drives systems toward outcomes no one actually wants. 👹 moloch is what happens when misaligned incentives, competition pressure, and survival instincts push individuals to make choices that are rational alone but destructive together. nobody intends the damage, yet the structure funnels everyone into the same traps. once you see this pattern, you start noticing it in economics, politics, science, social media, and anywhere humans try to coordinate at scale. in 2021 - 2025, i worked with moloch-pilled artists, writers, and thinkers - to turn these ideas into a set of comics. the moloch comics turn the moloch idea into story, symbol, and myth. seven issues, each exploring a different face of the coordination problem and the struggle to build systems that actually serve human flourishing. the series blends sci-fi, fantasy, cyberpunk, psychedelic surrealism, and ethereum lore to reveal what we are really fighting and why aligned cooperation is so powerful when it finally emerges. these comics are are teaching tools, cultural artifacts, and shared narrative for builders who want to out-cooperate the competition and create better incentive environments. the complete 7 issue collection is now available as a limited physical release. it is beautiful, rare, and a piece of ethereum history for anyone who cares about solving for moloch coordination problems.
