Making software even softer, @gradle

Happy to finally bring it to the world! As always, it's only the beginning. There is so much work to do to let your builds avoid doing the work!
Isolated Projects is now incubating in Gradle 9.7.0. Projects are configured in parallel, so IDE sync gets meaningfully faster. Our own 300-subproject build: 84s → 47s median. Config cache is a prerequisite. Not for production artifacts yet (but try it out). blog.gradle.org/introducing-…

Meet Datatype, my new font that turns text into charts. Available on Google Fonts and of course in Workspace. Simple syntax like {b:10,25,7,95} turns into sparklines, pie charts, and bar charts that look great in your docs, slides, and sheets. fonts.google.com/specimen/Da…

Replying to @telegram
@telegram motion photos is a cool feature, but having to opt-out per photo is a poor choice of the default. It should be the opposite

Motion photos are for "catching that moment" when you didn't snap in time. That's why it's a good default to capture them silently. But it's a bad default to animate on every view of that photo. *Most* of them are just blur and shake

The only Android 16 feature I've encountered so far is the asymmetrical margins for app notification icons
The only new Android 16 feature I've encountered so far is that every other day my phone gets stuck in a weird landscape-locked orientation that it can't get out of until I lock it and unlock it again.

Can we please use the decades of IDE development experience and apply it to auto-completion that is now forced on billions of users so it's not as annoying?
