In contrast to last week's disappointment after no confirmed sightings of a Great Yellow Bumblebee on the Mullet Peninsula, I was thrilled to record a Red-shanked Carder Bee (Bombus ruderarius) just before the weather packed it in!

Purple pollen baskets on this queen red tail. Apologies for crappy phone photo. Lots of scabious out on the ditch too in addition to wild thyme.

Yesterday, I spent my birthday
doing #fieldwork with @KarinaEcology and we spent some time (off-site) looking for #Petalwort. Reviewing the photos I'm not sure we found it! Any ideas anyone? @Bryophyte_World?

Absolutely love this poem about bumblebees, their needs and the challenges they face today! More campaigning like this please!
'Imagine a world where bumblebees could vote'
Our poem for #RestoreNatureNow, superbly performed by author and staff member Darryl accompanied by his young son.
We think it went down well with the crowd!

Well done @MargaretTallott on representing the @GYB_Project at the @eucapnetwork workshop on ‘Promoting #pollinator-friendly #farming’ in Slovenia this week! Looking forward to hearing all about it!
Delighted that @MargaretTallott from our working group was able to attend this on our behalf. She's come home with lots of ideas. Many thanks to all the organisers.
Not a day for #pollinator #surveys on Mullet today! At least I didn't have to go out to confirm it myself. Instead I spent the afternoon with @gemma0connor, working on #GIS! Thanks for the confirmation photo, the good company, and delicious dinner Gemma! – at Mayo, Ireland
Some beautiful #flowers recorded while #monitoring #pollinators for @LIFEonMachair today. Bit disappointed by the low abundance of #bees though! – at Mayo, Ireland
