Silly little resolution I'm going to try and do but I've become far too much of a lurker on this site. Going to try and share more of my favourite things in this thread. My "recommenDAISHions"...

Obsessed with this guy who finds the most boring average looking men in Boston and then street harasses them (“who let this DADDY outside?!”), and they absolutely LOVE IT and are beaming from the attention. Much to consider here

After building in stealth for a while, I'm excited to share what I've been working on. It started with a simple question: what if dog, but longer? Introducing: longdog.win This is day one. We’re just getting started.

My colleague @pdmsero has written a really important piece on the supposed access to capital gap between Britain and the US. He argues, against popular opinion, that access to capital isn't the reason why British companies are small. The issue is that a range of different problems can appear like access to capital problems. If a firm has a bad idea, or the market is too small, or regulatory and infrastructure costs are too high, these will all limit a company's ability to raise capital. European founders will then complain about access to capital, when the real problem lies elsewhere. Pedro argues that we can see this in returns data. If European countries were underpriced by capital markets, we would expect to see returns that outpaced US counterparts. But this is not what we see in the data. Instead, Pedro argues that European companies are "constrained by barriers to scale that make them less capable of delivering the returns required to encourage more investment." These barriers can be regulatory, or the result of smaller market size, or high costs of infrastructure (housing, energy, construction). The policy implications are significant: if capital is not the main issue, then we should spend less time trying to force capital into British firms (e.g. through pension mandation or financial incentives). Instead, we should focus on making Britain, and Europe, an easier place to scale, with fewer regulatory barriers and cheaper fundamentals.
A giant illegal fireworks balloon reportedly broke apart over São Paulo, Brazil, creating a surreal scene in the sky. 🎈💥 These unmanned balloons, often launched during festive celebrations, can reach 50+ meters in height and are frequently loaded with fireworks. Brazilian authorities consider them illegal because they pose serious risks, including wildfires, explosions, property damage, and hazards to aircraft. When one of these massive balloons drifts near airports, airspace restrictions may be imposed for safety reasons. The scale of this thing is hard to comprehend until it starts falling apart mid air. Would you have guessed this wasn't a passenger hot air balloon? 🤯 #Brazil #SaoPaulo #Balloon #Aviation #Fireworks #ViralVideo #Engineering #Interesting #Nature #Safety

The most critical analysis of 'little treat' culture I've seen yet
