fred hammond’s tiny desk unlocked something deeper than nostalgia. it reminded me of an era when gospel music felt inseparable from community. family functions, neighborhood gatherings, youth choir rehearsals, church trips, and bobby jones gospel playing in the background. the music wasn’t just heard, it was lived. the late 90s and early 2000s were truly a special time.
