Back from maternity leave and excited to join @evpatora and @RLadiesAarhus on Wednesday! Will share how learning R enabled big jumps in my career, from PhD to postdoc to non-academic data science.
Excited about the (online) launch of @RLadiesAarhus, the first chapter in the city! Come and join us on our 1st event to hear about our plans and to listen to two amazing speakers! @RLadiesGlobal @evpatora #WomenWhoCode

Thinking a lot about how we develop a sense for data being "right", and how to move that sense into tests. Any favorite articles or tips, #rstats friends? (language/tool agnostic!)

Examples: [in genetics] you're missing an entire chromosome, or [generally] a routine chart suddenly looks "off", or the logical relationship between two columns breaks. Sometimes it's obvious (result has 0 rows), sometimes it's subtle (5 extra rows in a large dataset).

Looks up stringdist 📦 ... 🤩! This is why I love following #tidytuesday
Happy #tidytuesday! I noticed some fuzzy duplicates in the judges' names and used the stringdist package to fix this. Now we can see who are the judges that appeared most often in the show. Code: github.com/richardvogg/tidy-…

Really enjoyed this interview, especially Jenny's thoughts on following your "comparative interest and advantage" as your career evolves.
I just re-read this interview @kellrstats did with me for an @rOpenSci series. My feeling of being a square peg who finally found a square hole has gotten even stronger since then. ht @oaggimenez Themes: career vs. parenting, ambivalence about academia. ropensci.org/blog/2017/12/08…

In the spirit of tweeting more about cool ‘new to me’ things in #rstats - here’s one: the `argparser` package! Very helpful when you need to turn an R script into an executable, and it has no extra dependencies!

Last week I needed to make an R script run via command line with named arguments, and argparser was perfect. It even generates nice help output! CRAN: cran.r-project.org/web/packa… and a helpful tutorial from @sellorm: blog.sellorm.com/2017/12/30/…
