My current scenario is that the US remains in NATO but rapidly transfers the conventional responsibility to Europe, while keeping the nuclear shield. Europeans must assume the primary responsibility for Russia deterrence, while the US concentrates on the Indo-Pacific and China
👇
Ahead of the Ankara Summit I draw up 4 scenarios on the #future of #NATO:
➡️ #1: More Europe in NATO—the moderate version
➡️ #2: More Europe in NATO—the brutal version
➡️ #3: NATO narrows to Europe and Canada
➡️ #4: NATO becomes part of the #EU

Taiwan used LLMs for 'community notes' at scale to counter disinformation from foreign adversaries in their 2024 election cycle. This could be a brilliant use case for AI if we're diligent about creating guardrails against full censorship.

.@JamesTalarico to Joe Rogan: My principal told me I was going to teach this kid named Justin, who had brought a knife to school. I told him I wanted to get to know him. We started to build a rapport. Right before winter break, he brought me this gift — a snowflake that he had bought at the Dollar Tree for his teacher.
I came back after winter break and heard this commotion. There were two of our coaches restraining Justin. That was the last time I ever saw him. Justin had been seeing a therapist provided by the school district, but because of budget cuts, the district had eliminated the therapist.
Adults he was trying to trust were abandoning him. That was the radicalizing experience for me. People at the state capitol had cut $5 billion from our schools. I promised myself that if I ever got power I would do everything I could to stop that. Justin and my students are the criteria I use to evaluate public policy.
The best framing of the deep, painful implications these actions are having on the social contract between citizens and their government, not just on immigration policy, but in all aspects of life.
Edina Mayor Jim Hovland: “ In these trouble-filled days, the nation should know that Minnesota has not resisted legal immigration enforcement; it has resisted excess. It does not reject law; it rejects lawlessness clothed in authority. It does not deny the nation’s right to govern its borders; but it insists that such governance be worthy of and deferential to a free people.”
