The Night Watch is 4.37 metres across. Most of us have only ever seen it on a phone. So I built a museum where paintings hang as large as they really are, and you can walk it in your browser. Link below. Built with @claudeai and @threejs. #opus5.5 #threejs #museum

Try it on any of the 110: estheet.com The museum, from the start: xitter.cf/akashsoti/status/21172…

You can get closer to The Starry Night than any guard would let you. Pinch, and the stars open into ridges of paint. You can see which way his brush turned. Built with @claudeai and @threejs.

I'm a designer, and I built this museum with Claude Code. Since 23 September: 323 commits, 311 of them written with Claude. About 40,000 lines: the hall in @threejs, and a Mac app in Swift and Metal (WIP). How it went: I decided what it should feel like, and Claude wrote the code. Often several sessions ran at once, each on its own part, while I moved between them, like a small studio. What made it work was one file, CLAUDE.md. It says how every part of the interface is made: its glass, its sizes, its states, and a page in a storybook for each, over a dark painting and a busy one. So every new piece fits the rest. What surprised me: - It fact-checked. 230 short facts about the paintings, each against two independent sources, and it left out the myths that didn't hold up. - When the walk stuttered, it wrote its own tool to catch every slow frame and name the cause, then fixed them one by one. - It even filmed the launch videos, frame by frame in a headless browser at 60 fps. What it couldn't do was tell when something felt right. That part was mine: track lights aimed about 31° off vertical, after MoMA's Rothko room; a frame that meets its canvas with no gap; 412 moments where the view glides in to what the narrator names. Thank you @claudeai, and @bcherny and @_catwu for Claude Code. Link below.

Next, a Mac app. Until then, the museum is open in your browser, and I'll share one thing it does every few days. The photographs are from Wikimedia Commons, the music from Musopen and Kimiko Ishizaka.

Walk it here: estheet.com 110 paintings, free, in your browser. The frames are modelled and lit, never painted on. Every fact in the stories rests on two sources. And Satie, Bach and Chopin play as you go.
