@greateranglia This morning I arrived at Ely station with the exact money to buy my ticket, in change. The ticket office was closed (as seems to be normal nowadays) so I used a ticket machine, but it didn't register one of the 10p pieces that I put into it. 1/4
I thought that this money would have been from the ticket office till, or petty cash, or similar, but afterwards the staff member told me it was their own money! I assume you'll be able to find the staff member and reimburse them? 3/4
I don't think @greateranglia staff should be out of pocket, even by 10p, as a result of your failure to provide adequate ticket selling facilities to passengers (either open ticket offices, or reliable ticket machines). 4/4

Maybe this diagram will help explain why we are baffled that services from Cambridge to/from London are impacted by defects above Ely. It is not obvious why usual fast service that normally starts from Ely is not running either by starting it at Ely or Cambridge. #Cambridge
networkrail.co.uk/running-th… It's an announcement that, in the future, there will be a consultation where we tell you what the problem is, and then consult on how further consultations about the problem at an unspecified date even further in the future will be run.
A quick google for "Ely Area Capacity Enhancement" led me to cambridgeshirepeterborough-c…. It's a shame some bits are redacted. Completely changing the subject, is Ctrl-A/Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V considered a breach of the DMCA nowadays?
I've just got my season ticket refund from @greateranglia :-) Actually, I got it on May 19th, but because they didn't bother to respond to my claim, or tell me how much I was due, or tell me they'd paid it, I only realised when my credit card statement arrived and was in credit!
Just seen a small bird-of-prey-like bird (slightly smaller than a pigeon, curved beak, big talons) eating a smaller (baby?) bird. Holding it down with its talons, ripping feathers out, then flying off with it. Can anybody identify it from this terrible quality video? #springwatch
I've just got on board the last ever @greateranglia 18:22 shuttle from Cambridge to Ely, which is being axed in the new timetables from next week (see grumpytrainuser.wordpress.co… for more info about how these new timetables affect Cambridge).
A detailed look at how next week's new @GNRailUK, @TLRailUK and @greateranglia timetable changes affect services around Cambridge, and the reasons why the changes are being made grumpytrainuser.wordpress.co…
There are timetable changes affecting many train companies next week. grumpytrainuser.wordpress.co… looks in detail at the changes affecting @greateranglia, @TLRailUK and @GNRailUK trains from Cambridge.
All @greateranglia trains from Norwich-Ely-Cambridge are cancelled today, apparently due to signalling problems. It must be a very strange signalling problem to only affect them, and not @EastMidRailway from Norwich to Ely, or @GNRailUK and @CrossCountryUK from Ely to Cambridge.
Well this is pretty amazing. The 0940 @greateranglia from Norwich to Cambridge is running after all. Major credit must be due to @networkrail for fixing such a weird train-company-specific signalling problem in a tiny fraction of the originally estimated time.
Oh, no, it looks like the 0940 was a one-off and @greateranglia have cancelled all the Norwich-Ely-Cambridge trains since then. So it's not just a train-company-specific signalling fault. It's a train-company-specific signalling fault that is only affecting some of their trains!
Today I had the pleasure of using rail replacement buses to get from Ely to Cambridge and back again. I (entirely unplanned) ended up using one @greateranglia bus and one @GNRailUK bus. It's interesting to compare the experiences. 1/4
Secondly, @GNRailUK. They provided a single-decker 40-seater regular service bus, with space for 2 suitcases and no other facilities. People were standing down the aisle and falling over each other's luggage. There was sweat running down the windows by the end of the journey. 3/4
Sadly, nothing about this difference, or @GNRailUK's complete disregard of their passengers' experience, surprises me any more. On an entirely unrelated note, does anybody happen to know how much cheaper it is to hire a 40-seater single-decker bus compared to a proper coach? 4/4

Work on extending #Waterbeach station platforms commenced today (5 Oct).
In distance (looking north) piles are being driven into the ground to support the platform. Three more piles laid on the rail trolley ready for use.
