Excited to share that I'll be joining the psychology department at Texas A&M (@TAMU) as an assistant professor starting Fall 2026 🤗
Had a great day giving a talk for the I-O Brown Bag at Rice University 🙂
(added bonus that I also had some wonderful campus tour guides!)
Since our paper on the Changing How I Live Life (CHILL) Study is now out in Psychological Science (doi.org/10.1177/095679762614…), here's a LONG overdue post on the intervention work we've been doing the past few years!
Have you ever wanted to change one of your personality traits?
3) We used momentary, daily, & weekly measures to more closely examine how intervention-driven change occurs + test whether it tends to occur in a bottom-up (state → habit → trait) or top-down (trait → habit → state) manner
Neuroticism changed nonlinearly over the intervention; changes in all timescale-specific measures predicted one another, with bottom-up effects often larger in magnitude but top-down effects still present; and coupled changes across timescales were larger in the intervention groups than the active control group

I’m recruiting a PhD student to come work with me in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University!
In the Wright Personality Lab, our focal goal is to pursue a holistic understanding of individual differences in personality across the lifespan.
We explore questions relating to quantifying personality change & development in novel ways; examining what underlies different types of change & dynamics thereof; and investigating the predictive validity of different conceptualizations of personality. To do so, we use a variety of analytic methods and leverage data ranging from intensive ambulatory assessments to large-scale panel datasets across multiple decades & countries.
Application cycle: 2027-2028
Application deadline: December 1

Maths is so gentle. ‘Let’ X be this, ‘suppose’ Y be that, as if objects could choose. Why not ‘brutally force a trembling X to be a metric space’?
Had a wonderful time at ECP in Edinburgh this past week!
I got to see/catch up with so many friends, heard a ton of great talks by researchers of all career stages, & had the chance to present our (forthcoming) paper on cross-timescale, intervention-driven neuroticism change :-)
& the presentation slides (osf.io/d326s/files/jwrx8) + an updated preprint (doi.org/10.31234/osf.io/jxg3…) are available for anyone who may be interested 😃
I am incredibly honored and grateful to be included in this list alongside a group of such talented researchers!
Thank you to anyone & everyone that has been part of my academic journey thus far and has helped make any of this possible 🤗

New paper out at the Journal of Psychopathology and Clinical Science!
We examined unconditional & event-related changes in personality functioning (Criterion A of the AMPD) and the Big Five across 4 metrics: rank-order stability, mean-level change, within-person variability, ipsative consistency
Our goal was to compare & better understand developmental links between pathological and normal-range personality, how these links varied depending on the occurrence of life events, and whether similarities vs differences emerged across distinct metrics
(1/7)
Overall, we believe our study offers valuable insight into the conceptual (dis)similarity of personality traits and personality functioning, informs joint theoretical frameworks, and can advance treatment of personality disorders by identifying conditions in which changes in personality pathology may be expected or best captured
(6/7)
We hope you enjoy reading the study as much as we enjoyed doing it🙂
