Had a performance review yesterday. I'm doing fine, but not a top performer. Problem is, the folks I assume are perceived as top performers are not actually performing all that great. They're just moving fast and "doing lots." Time to crack some skulls.

At some point at a young age I internalized the idea that being below 90th percentile was below average. Which is obviously asinine to say. But served me well to get where I am. Still can’t shake it.

I’ve been called an Apple fanboy before. I’m not offended by the label. I develop iOS apps for a living. I have a pair of Studio Displays (they’re great). 7 HomePods. A $5k M1 MacBook. I haven’t bought an Apple product in I think 3 years.

No one cares about foundations. Better examples. Vibe coding == built on boring standards/cheap materials/no architectural value I wager to bet most people in the comments live in a building that looks like one on the left. Certainly no one builds anything like the right anymore

Once I started to really cook at home my standards for restaurant food went way up. Just say you’re bad at cooking. It’s ok. You can learn!

I agree with this. The people who keep screaming that it’s “cheaper” eat the same depressing, boring food, day after day. I’m not making chicken and rice and sandwiches and stew for weeks on end. Sure, that would be “cheaper” in the long run. But you’re eating like a dog.

Seeing a lot of people on here say that they check out of hotels at the front desk I don’t think I’ve checked out of a hotel once in my entire life.
