Like millions of Americans, I work to manage my mental health daily. I’ve long ignored my need for more help. That’s why I’m sharing some personal news. I’m taking a leave from the City for a month to get help at a rigorous outpatient program for clinical depression and anxiety.

Everyone deserves to feel that they have the space, resources, and support to care for their own basic health, and that includes mental health. I want to thank everyone who has shown me grace and support across my tenure on the Council, including my colleagues.

I wanted to be honest, and fully transparent, with all of you about my absence, because you deserve nothing less. I know that when I return, I’ll be back stronger, ready to form deeper partnerships, and ready to fight even harder for our neighbors. Thank you ✊🏽♥️

Situation resolved. For folks in the area, it’s safe to return. There’s still a large law enforcement presence as they continue to process the scene.
I'm tracking the situation on 28th and Nicollet as the @HennepinSheriff was executing a search warrant. Access points are closed while law enforcement secure the scene. First responders are asking the public to avoid the area for the safety of the public and first responders.

The reality is that HCMC would've already closed, had the County Board not intervened last year. Now, the legislature must act on the County’s proposed sales-tax solution for dedicated revenue for HCMC. Do your part: CareForHCMC.org Learn more: HennepinD2.com/hcmc

"We are under federal occupation right now by our own government." Minneapolis Councilmember @aishaforward10 told @DeanObeidallah what it's like living in Minneapolis right now. ☎️: 866-997-4748 🔊: SiriusXM.us/Dean

It’s a privilege to represent an ~80% renter community. The most vulnerable of my constituents, along with vulnerable renters across the Southside and Mpls, are at risk of losing their homes come the 1st when rent is due. We need @GovTimWalz to enact an eviction moratorium NOW.

I’m furious that Mayor Frey chose to NOT SIGN a unanimous resolution from the City Council to urge Governor Walz to enact an eviction moratorium. Receipt: lims.minneapolismn.gov/Downl… I’m begging you, join me in calling on @governorwalz.mn.gov to enact an eviction moratorium NOW.

If they’re not setting up to prevent ICE from entering then local govt is simply assisting ICE in establishing a police state. How is this in ANY WAY a solution to what happened today?
Text alert from the City of Minneapolis about 50 minutes ago informing residents that National Guard is assisting MPD with checkpoints around the Whittier neighborhood.

I also call on Governor Walz to institute an eviction moratorium for as long as our state is occupied, and put his focus towards protecting our communities — not deploying even more force against observers and protesters.

I am using my office to ask local police to protect residents and not comply with ICE. I will do everything in my power to get ICE out of Minneapolis immediately and I know you will too. This invasion of our city by federal agents can not be sustained.

The people of Minneapolis are hurting, tired, and extremely angry — all these emotions are justified. Resistance to this ICE occupation is justified. I’ll continue to be right there with you, and will keep you updated.
