It’s hard to imagine many people having a bigger impact than Dolly Parton. Born in a one-room cabin, she earned 11 Grammys and an Emmy, built a business empire, helped millions of kids learn to read, and — as if that wasn’t enough — helped accelerate the research that led to the Moderna COVID vaccine. What a life. Michelle and I are thinking of Dolly’s family and her many, many fans.
Breaking News: Dolly Parton, the country singer, songwriter, entertainer and entrepreneur known for her outsize persona and prodigious vision and talent that placed her in a class by herself, has died at 80. nyti.ms/45Prr77
Russiagate was real btw. 34 people were charged, most of whom were Russian nationals who fled the country. 8 Americans on Trump’s campaign were convicted or pled guilty and sent to prison.
And then Trump pardoned them.
You just forgot because he did worse stuff

not to get political, but America is real pretty and has a lot of nice folks making cool things, and i think if we had a president who wasn’t actively trying to murder us, we could have a pretty good time

Then Jesus said unto the sick, “you better have insurance.”
Then Jesus said unto the stranger, “are you here legally?”
Then Jesus said unto the hungry, “my taxes better not be paying for these loaves and fishes.”
Then Jesus said unto the poor, “this is your own fault.”

People are weird about addiction, the ones who know very little about it, I mean. They condemn the addicts for being addicts, but when the addicts are successful in beating their addiction and leading productive lives, they don't seem to like that much either.

I see your profile picture. That’s Johnny Cash. My hero too. Arrested seven times. Smuggled 668 amphetamines across the Mexican border in 1965. Took every drug there was and drank like I did. Cheated on his first wife. Slept with more woman than I ever did. Hit bottom in a cave in Tennessee in 1968 trying to crawl off and die. And then he got up. He got clean. He spent the rest of his life singing for prisoners and addicts and the people the country threw away because he knew he was one of them.
That was the whole point of the Man in Black. He wore it for the poor and the beaten down. He wore it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime. He wore it for the ones who never heard a word of Jesus. He wore it for the addicted and the dying. He wore it as a standing witness that no one is past saving.
You picked his picture. You did not pick his message. Try listening to the words.

DOGE didn't make a dent in the deficit, but it did bring back screwworm and enable a historically large new Ebola outbreak, so it's not like they didn't achieve *anything*

Talarico has a nasty battle ahead of him, but everything that needed to happen for Democrats to turn Texas blue has happened.
The economy is shit, Trump’s approval is cratering, and the GOP is nominating the worst possible candidate for the general election.
At minimum, Republicans are going to spend a small fortune defending a state Trump won by 14%.

Did you know that Donald Trump's son just married the daughter of Jeffrey Epstein's accountant? Well now you do.

Gorsuch be like: first, I’d like to acknowledge that we’re on stolen Nacotchtank and Piscataway land. Second, the state of Oregon’s ban on throwing queer people into volcanoes is a blatant violation of the first amendment.

As Republicans complain about Virginia restricting redistricting, a reminder that Democrats tried to enact a national ban on partisan gerrymandering.
Every single Republican voted no.

The entire time they were doing that, you were claiming it was the politically smart and popularist move. At this point the only throughline in your politics is reflexive contempt for the left.

There was a window to act! Democrats spent a decade pushing bills to rein in partisan gerrymandering nationwide, most recently in 2021-2022. Republicans opposed it, never engaged, knowing they were benefiting more. Now after Texas, Dems have junked all that and hit full gas.

It’s not meant to be logically consistent. Bad faith IS the method across all issues and procedural fights. They’ve been aggressively gerrymandering while pretending to be mad about Dem gerrymandering and also refusing to support national nonpartisan districting for decades.
