.DS_Store should not be in your project's .gitignore. Neither should .idea. or .vscode. Those ignores are unique to a _person_, not the project. So they should be in your system excludesfile.

A while ago someone created a Github-style diff of the constitution with commits for each amendment. I’d love this for in-progress legislature. We could gain so much transparency from clear diffs (and comments! and branches!) as prospective bills go back and forth.
