Strongly resonate with: “recovery scores are ultimately just indicators. My body tells me far more than my watch does.” But HOW CAN ANYONE NOT RAISE EYEBROWS at their partnership with the Art of Living?! Some spiritual research instead of peer-reviewed science unlike Whoop/Oura!
I was genuinely excited about @temple when I first heard about it. Filled out their expression of interest form months ago, answering detailed questions about my fitness goals and how I planned to use the product. Didn’t make the cut. A few months later, I started seeing it on "people with clout (aka VCs, unicorn founders, top CEOs)" and not necessarily the fitness enthusiasts I thought they were targeting 🫣 Now that pre-orders are open at ₹85,000, strangely, I’m no longer excited. I don't doubt the quality of the product. Temple’s Entropy essentially their version of a recovery score, might be more accurate than what other wearables offer. But after 5 years of using Garmin, Apple Watch, Fitbit and multiple fitness rings, I’ve realised that recovery scores are ultimately just indicators. My body tells me far more than my watch does. Whether I should run, walk, cycle or just chill is something I usually know when I wake up. We aren’t robots who need to know our exact recovery score to plan our day. Most of us don’t need 100% accuracy either. Even if Entropy is 10–15% more accurate, am I willing to pay 3x more for that additional precision? Probably not. And there is another reason. As an introvert, the last thing I want is a device that attracts attention and invites small talk. 😂 I still find it fascinating. I just no longer convinced I need one. Will I convert at say ₹25,000, hell yeah 🥳

Some of y'all know I host quizzes for friends. In 2023, I picked it up again as a hobby - the old-fashioned way: PPTs! Between '23-'25, I made just 4 editions. 1 every 6 months. Each took ~40 hours to put together. So naturally, in today's day & age, I had to build something 🧵

And it doesn't stop there. Coz who doesn't love picking a quiz night apart? Open the summary after the last question. See how the leads changed hands & time-to-buzz stats! Built this after my friends wanted to do a post-game analysis following the 2nd quiz hosted on the app.

I'm not a Congress supporter, not even remotely, but I think it's important to acknowledge moments like this regardless of which party was in power. In 2005, students at JNU greeted Dr. Manmohan Singh with black flags and slogans over his economic policies. When the university issued notices to the protesters, he reportedly asked that no action be taken against them, recognising their right to peaceful protest. What's even more striking is how he began his speech that day. He quoted Voltaire: I may disagree with what you say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. That is the kind of democratic principle we should expect from every government, regardless of its political ideology.

it is important to understand what this relic is trying to do here. India scores very highly on Hofstede’s Power Distance Index. This means cultural acceptance of hierarchy in which unequal power distribution is expected. The way this acceptance is enforced it through deference and "respect". There is not mechanism for power transfer back to the young from the old. she is not saying that the old people fucked this country up she is saying that the old people should be respected even as they fuck up the country because it is our culture. Notice she says "genuine" grievances, delivering judgement even at a time like this. There is no disagreeing with these poeple, they had all the power in the world and they used it consolidate their power. Reject these social norms. You cannot beat this regressive system from the inside.
An Appeal to All Spokespersons and Those in Public Discourse While we all have the right to protest, raise genuine grievances, and voice our demands, we also have a duty to remain respectful towards others, including our elders, even when we disagree with them. Respect is one of the first values we learn from our parents and teachers. Disagreement is natural in a democracy, but disrespect should never become the language of public discourse. The repeated airing of disrespectful remarks in the media is distasteful and disturbing. We must remember that younger generations are watching, listening, and learning from the way we conduct ourselves. Freedom of speech comes with the responsibility of restraint. We can be assertive without being abusive, critical without being contemptuous, and firm without losing our dignity. An appeal to all spokespersons: Please exercise restraint while expressing your views and asserting your right to free speech. Let us uphold the values of mutual respect, civility, and responsible public discourse. We may disagree in our opinions, but we must not lose respect for one another.

actually Bangalore lost its cool no matter what the weather folks say... The daytime max barely moved since the 1980s. But it's hotter than 30C for MUCH longer Heat stress lasts longer: used to get cooler by 4:27 PM → now HOT till 5:54 PM The night used to cool down below 22°C and we used to recover — now hours per night under 22°C — shrank from 3½ hours to 48 minutes! No wonder I'm cranky and exhausted in the mornings! 40 years of ERA5 hourly data → prasannais.com/is-bangalore-…

The potholes on our only entry and exit road have been in a severely deteriorated condition for over a year now. This stretch is already under immense pressure due to haphazard parking on one side and the complete absence of a walkable footpath, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road. The current state of the road, combined with deep potholes, has made it extremely unsafe and inconvenient for both pedestrians and vehicles. The last asphalting of this road was carried out in December 2020. Since then, the road has deteriorated significantly, with potholes emerging due to what appears to be substandard work. We request your urgent intervention to address and fix this issue at the earliest. The situation has become so critical that residents are now considering pooling funds to temporarily fill these potholes themselves. @osd_cmkarnataka We need your urgent help ma'am 🙏🏽 Sahaaya Complaint No: 21061438, 21017886

It’s been a little over two months since I left my last job. A week after my last working day, I reflected on moving on after 3.5 years. Here’s what I came up with.

I can’t keep chasing the dreams of 20-something Diggy in my 30s, you know? :) So what’s it gonna be—starting my own thing, jumping in as an operator in some bigger machine, or something else entirely? No clue yet. And that’s the point.

I want to let it unfold—find what I’m naturally curious about, what pulls me in, without FOMO, fear, or anxiety steering the wheel. Whatever it is, I’ll get there when I know it’s *mine*.

This is so true. Claude 3.5 has reminded me of working with a bunch of junior devs. Troubleshooting with it feels just like firefighting or reporting bugs at your daily job. Forgetting to define proper types in js — the usual suspect. 😅 Excited to see what 3.7 brings!
If you’re a senior software engineer, Devin + Claude 3.7 Sonnet is a legit team of mid-level software engineers
