College football's most decorated head coach Nick Saban spoke at the White House on Friday at a college sports roundtable hosted by President Trump.
Saban called on lawmakers to fix issues he has seen at the collegiate level, where Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals have turned the focus away from education.
"How much does anybody talk about getting an education anymore? Nobody talks about it at all, which is the most important thing any of these student athletes can do in terms of enhancing their future."

If you want to be recruited, understand this:
Exposure matters.
Grades matter.
Film matters.
Honest evaluations matter.
Understanding the process matters.
Too many athletes focus on the wrong things.
Control what you can control and give yourself a real opportunity to play at the next level.

NIL isnโt what has killed education, the ability to enter the Transfer Portal every single year has killed education. Many of these credits from School A donโt transfer to School B, and then you get to school C as a Junior in College but only have 10 credits to show for it.
And even worse, these big programs push athletes into online-only classes, which then signals to the athlete that football is more important than school. The problem is 97% of those players who won't go pro and will need that degree to make a living
