Between 2014-2024, Washington saw a 418% increase in chronic homelessness — the most growth in the United States — leaving it with the second-highest national total behind California, according to HUD data. "Governor Ferguson said no new taxes in 2025. Then he signed Washington’s largest tax increase in state history."
This ^ is why nobody believes Gov. Bob Ferguson when he promises not to raise taxes to cover the 'fiscal cliff' Washington's budget is about to leap off of next year.
KIRO's Charlie Harger with a great commentary on the incoming budget meteor, the denial by Progressives that they overspent, and how Olympia Democrats got us here through bad budgeting.

The potential arrival of New World Screwworm in the U.S. presents a significant challenge for our national cattle herd. Previously, livestock shipping was less dynamic, consumer demand for beef was lower, and our herd was larger. Today, we face widespread shipping, fewer cattle, and higher beef demand.

Ultimately, food, the people involved in its production, and the language we use to discuss it and its creation, should be aspirational, not divisive. That's not how legislators in Olympia are treating our agriculture communities.

Senate Republican Budget Leader Chris Gildon says families deserve an honest talk about why Washington gas prices are some of the highest in America.
Some Facts: A gallon of gas averges $5.67 in WA, a full $1.41 over the U.S. average. Energy policies, including the Climate Commitment Act (CCA) from the far left, are responsible for roughly $1.45 of state taxes per gallon (SB 5126 in 2021, enacted 2023) (Sources: AAA, SB 5126, Center Square).

If there is a word that should describe our farms and ranches, it should be something superlative. Not because farmers are better than anyone else but because they are providing something wholly necessary – food. #waleg

As families and individuals struggle with affordability & high taxes in WA, the WA Senate Democrat Leader is arguing that your income is not your property, with the hope our courts will overturn that precedent to uphold the new state Income Tax. This was said in public records obtained by The Center Square.
Legislative Republicans fought hard against the Income Tax in every step of the legislative process. We challenged its legality on the Senate floor, had historic debates, heavily encouraged the public to get involved, and more. The Income Tax has been ruled unconstitutional repeatedly since 1933, Initiative 2111 from 2024 further enshrined no state income taxes, and WA voters have rejected an Income Tax many times.
Think about what it really means if YOUR OWN INCOME is not considered your property.

1) Bob Ferguson line item veto’d the emergency clause in a CCA reform bill today because - get this it doesn’t go into effect until January so he reasoned that it was not an emergency
2) Bob did not veto a similar clause in the income tax, however, even though the income tax does not go into effect until 2029! He knows very well that the legislature abused its authority and he is signaling clearly to all voters he does not give a flying ferguson about the constitution when it doesn’t suit him
3) The SOS Steve Hobbs, today, rejected our referendum challenging the illegal use and interpretation of the emergency clause on the Income tax bill. This is not entirely surprising in a state where 40 years of one party rule has lead to a complete disregard for the words, meaning of words, rules, and laws outlined in our constitution.
4) We will challenge this in court.
5) As a referendum only has until June 10 to collect 200K signatures, We will ask the supreme court to treat our petition as an actual emergency and act quickly on this issue and to follow the actual wording of the constitution rather than the wishful thinking of the legislature
6) Should they refuse to take this up or ignore the actual wording in the constitution, it should be a reminder to every citizen in November when 5 justices will be on the ballot that we need a supreme court that will follow the law

Thanks to Governor Ferguson’s signature, Washington State now has an income tax. Instead of reducing spending, the state legislature took the unprecedented move of passing an income tax that violates our state’s constitution.
I support a legal challenge to this law in order to reverse Governor Ferguson’s tax hike.
