Rejected claims rarely come out of nowhere.
Most of the time, it's a missing diagnosis, a missing invoice, or a missed deadline. All preventable.
With CollabMed HMIS, your team can:
✅ Track preauthorization from pending to approved or rejected
✅ Run every claim through a checklist before it reaches SHA
✅ Stay on the clock: 7 days from discharge for SHIF claims, 24 hours for emergency (ECCIF) claims

One system. Reception to claim.
Patient consent comes first (OTP or fingerprint), and emergencies still get a route: care moves now, the claim follows.

PHC Claims are officially LIVE on CollabMed HMIS
As part of the ongoing SHA rollout, claims processing pathways for select health facilities have shifted to CollabMed HMIS to optimize data management and claim workflows.
Key Takeaways for Health Administrators:
Level 2 & Level 3B (Accepting UHC): PHC claims must now be processed via CollabMed HMIS.
Level 3B (Non-UHC) & SHIF/POMSF: Existing pathways remain unchanged.

We will be live everyday from 7PM
Every minute spent on duplicate data entry is a minute taken away from patient care.
Collabmed is a Health Management Information System that keeps one patient record from registration to discharge.
What that means for your facility:
1. Less paperwork and fewer manual re-entries
2. Billing and reporting linked directly to clinical activity
3. One source of truth for clinicians, administrators and county health teams

Here's the narrative I'd like to retire.
That silence is safer. That asking "are you okay?" plants a dangerous idea. That the people struggling are the ones who look like they are struggling.
Here's the one I'd like to write in its place.
Asking is an act of care. Listening is a lifeline. And the person who is "fine" in every meeting might be carrying something heavy behind the camera. If you are in that place right now, hear this: what you are feeling is real, and it is not the whole story. Pain is loud, but it is not permanent. Thousands of people who once could not imagine tomorrow are here today, and glad of it. Many will tell you the moment that mattered was small: someone noticed, someone stayed.
You do not need the perfect words. You need a pause, a real question, and the willingness to hear the answer.
At @Afyanalytics, we believe numbers like these deserve to be read out loud, not filed away. We tell this story the way we would want it told to someone we love: without sensationalism, without blame, always with a way forward. Because a statistic can open eyes, but a conversation opens doors.
So as September closes, don't let the conversation close with it.
Text the friend you've been meaning to check on.
Ask the colleague who's gone quiet.
Tell one person the truth about your own week.
If you are struggling, please reach out to someone today: a friend, a family member, a therapist, or a local crisis line. You are worth the call.
The month ends. The care doesn't.

Baba Otieno was 68. He had slowed down, yes, but so does everyone at 68, or so the family told themselves. He ate less. He got up at night, again and again, for the bathroom. He winced sometimes, quietly, and waved it off. "Uzee tu," he would say. Just old age.
Eight months later, he was gone. The diagnosis, when it finally came, was prostate cancer, stage four. Nobody had thought to check earlier. Why would they? He was not in pain. He was just old.
That is the myth sitting quietly in African households right now: "If it were serious, I'd be in pain." We have been taught to treat pain as the alarm bell: no pain, no problem. So men wait. Families wait. And prostate cancer, which is often silent for years while it is still curable, uses that silence to its full advantage.
Let's dissect that myth properly.
Prostate cancer rarely announces itself early. By the time there is pain, difficulty urinating, or blood where it should not be, the disease has often already moved past the stage where treatment is simple. Waiting for symptoms is not caution. It is a head start handed to the cancer.
And on our continent, that head start is proving fatal. Prostate cancer is now the leading cause of cancer-related death among men across Sub-Saharan Africa. A South-East African study following over 8,600 patients found men here were more than three times as likely to present with aggressive, advanced disease compared to men in the US, not because African bodies are more vulnerable, but because African men are walking into clinics far too late. In South Africa, black African men carry a 60% higher risk of developing prostate cancer and are more than twice as likely to die from it. In Kenya, roughly one in nine men is a potential candidate for the disease, and it is already the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Kenyan men.
This is exactly the kind of pattern @Afyanalytics exists to expose. We work with African health data, surfacing the trends, the gaps, and the blind spots that raw numbers from elsewhere in the world simply don't capture. And what our data keeps showing, cancer after cancer, region after region, is the same story: it is not that African men are getting sicker. It is that African men are being found sicker, later, because the checkup never happened while there was still time to act.
So here is the myth, killed properly: pain is not the warning sign. Age is. Family history is. Being a man over 40, especially a Black African man, is reason enough to have the conversation with a doctor, whether or not anything feels wrong.
This September, don't wait for a symptom to give you permission to check. Ask your doctor about screening. Ask your father. Ask your brother.
Baba Otieno didn't get a warning. You just did.
Know your numbers. Know your risk. Get checked, while early still means everything.
