V posledních dnech se znovu objevily výhrůžky smrtí vůči novinářům a lidem, kteří veřejně vyjádřili své postoje. Považuji za nepřijatelné, aby se kdokoliv kvůli své práci nebo názorům musel bát o život.
Ne vždy se nám bude líbit, co píší média nebo co někdo zveřejní na sociálních sítích. Právě možnost projevovat názor a klást i nepříjemné otázky je ale jedním ze základů zdravé svobodné společnosti.
Zvlášť závažné je, když podobné hrozby podněcují nebo zlehčují veřejní činitelé. To je nedůstojné funkcím, které zastávají. Věřím, že si uvědomí, jakou váhu jejich slova mají, a budou podle toho také jednat.

The US Ambassador to the European Union, Andrew Pazder, has warned that European companies could face harsh countermeasures from Washington, according to a report by the *Financial Times*. The warning comes as Brussels pushes forward with plans to limit the access of American companies to certain segments of the European market.
Pazder’s warning followed a proposal by the European Commission to reserve a portion of the frequency spectrum—which enables smartphones to connect directly to satellites—for European companies. This would restrict the frequencies available to Chinese and American firms, including SpaceX, the operator of the Starlink satellite network.
When asked whether European companies should fear countermeasures, Pazder told the *Financial Times* that they should “consider that this could happen and that the consequences for these companies—given the size of the American market—would be absolutely devastating.”

Let the world know what kind of evil the Ukrainians are fighting against.
On July 30, russia struck a home in Radushne, near Kryvyi Rih, killing 10 members of the Voronov family: two parents, their seven children and their 18-month-old grandson. According to preliminary findings cited by President Zelenskyy, the missile was North Korean.
Today, the remaining five children were finally laid to rest. It took more than two months of DNA testing to identify their remains.
All while the Trump administration keeps making excuses for every Russian action.

TWO PRESIDENTS, TWO VERY DIFFERENT MOMENTS WITH AMERICAN WAR HEROES 🇺🇦🇺🇸🇫🇷
When Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met Melvin Hurwitz, an American World War II veteran, the elderly soldier reached for his hand and attempted to kiss it. Zelenskyy gently pulled his hand away, lowered himself to the veteran’s level and embraced him instead.
What followed was a deeply moving exchange.
Veteran: “You’re the savior of the people!”
Zelenskyy: “No, no, no. You saved Europe.”
Veteran: “You bring tears to my eyes. You are my hero.”
Zelenskyy: “No, no, you are our hero.”
Veteran: “I pray for you.”
The encounter offers a contrast with controversies surrounding Donald Trump’s remarks and treatment of American military service members.
During a 2018 visit to France marking the centenary of the end of World War I, Trump cancelled a planned visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, where 2,289 American military personnel are buried. According to accounts published by The Atlantic, Trump privately questioned why he should visit a cemetery filled with “losers” and referred to fallen Marines at Belleau Wood as “suckers.” Trump has denied making those remarks.
The soldiers who died at Belleau Wood were fighting Germany in World War I, not the Nazi regime of World War II.
In 2024, Trump also attracted criticism for comparing the Presidential Medal of Freedom with the Medal of Honor. He called the civilian decoration “much better” while noting that Medal of Honor recipients are often severely wounded or awarded the distinction posthumously.
In 2025, Trump was criticised for playing golf in Florida rather than attending a dignified transfer ceremony for four fallen American service members, although presidential attendance at such ceremonies is not mandatory.
Zelenskyy’s exchange with Hurwitz was a simple moment of mutual respect between two men from different generations, both shaped by wars in Europe.
Neither wanted to be called a hero. Each insisted that the other deserved the honour.

🙏 Ukraine and Russia are close to reaching an agreement on evacuating civilians from Russian-occupied Oleshky
Ukraine’s Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets said the two sides are finalizing the details of a ceasefire arrangement and the safe evacuation of civilians to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
The situation in Oleshky has become a humanitarian catastrophe. Food deliveries have reportedly been cut off since May, leaving residents facing starvation, severe shortages of medicine, and no reliable access to electricity or running water.
Some people are surviving on just one meal a day, eating weeds and whatever food they can find. Those trying to escape face mined roads and the constant threat of drone attacks.
The proposed evacuation would cover Oleshky and six neighboring settlements, where an estimated 6,000 civilians, including up to 200 children, may still remain.
“We have made as much progress as possible,” Lubinets said, expressing hope that the outcome of the negotiations would become clear soon.

🇺🇦‼️ Zelensky: Again, a Russian ballistic attack in several waves overnight, and again there was no warning from partners.
Again, the targets were energy and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged.
In total, the Russians used 16 ballistic missiles, and this was a targeted attack against Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also used more than two hundred drones of various types, including jet "Shaheds", from Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Unfortunately, there are victims.
At night and in the morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions.
In just one night, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged and at least 550,000 families were left without electricity. Repair teams are working on the ground.
Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have positively accepted literally EVERY attempt by our partners to end this war with dignity, and EVERY proposal for a ceasefire was positively responded to.
Putin does not want not only the end of this war, but even any de-escalation steps. EVERY partner has experienced this personally when he heard Russia’s refusals. And it is very important to call things by their proper names. Call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine protect lives.
When the supply of missiles for Ukrainian air defense is blocked, and Russia receives a relaxation or postponement of sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of the partners.

Spain: The beach at Oliva, in La Safor, Valencia, is underwater this morning. Cars are submerged, homes are flooded and helicopters are rescuing people, with around 200 people trapped across the town.
Around 2,000 people were evacuated from campsites overnight. The mayor says some homes can now only be reached by air.
