I created specific playlists for the three main topics on my youtube channel: 1) The Micro-PET computer family: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL… 2) the GeckOS operating system: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL… 3) The Commodore PET: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL… Let me know what you like most! #8bit

I have a weird problem with the TL16C752 DUART. I am using my 16550A driver, but it does not seem to be clearing the tx and/or rx ints correctly, even though the IIR handling should be compatible from the datasheet. This throws the driver in a loop. Any experiences/hints? #8bit

I had to change the driver to using the Line status register instead of the Interrupt identification register to handle the transfer. Actually makes the driver easier. Not sure why the driver worked on the 16550A and not on the 16752

Just saw this. The beginning of a new old game! Brilliantly cool! #8bit #mos6502 #commodorepet youtube.com/watch?v=WAPlSe8u…

My new video shows how the Commodore PET 8296 creates its video output. An amazing machine with a new architecture. Compatible with the older PETs, but much more capable. A reaction on the Transactor demo is included! #8bit #mos6502 youtu.be/Woa-UbqozD8

The nasty Dual UART has interrupt outputs that are "high impedance after reset", but are active high... any TTL input registers them as active after reset due to the internal pullup. Who designs things like that?

In part 2 of my PET video output video series, I look at the PET models with CRTC. That includes high level and deep dive schematics, timing descriptions, and explaining some tricks that are used in demos! youtu.be/2echgDsLhR0 #8bit #mos6502

A little teaser for my next video.... Do you notice what's "unusual" for a Commodore PET? #8bit #mos6502

My uPET clones have an SPI interface for Ethernet. But Wifi seems more popular, esp. the ESP-WROOM. The mainly used firmware, I understand, has a serial (rs232/ttl) interface. So, I designed a Wifi adapter using an spi->serial. Does this make sense? #8bit #micropet

Would the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02-N4 be an alternative? Its schematics says it has a 40 MHz clock. It seems odd that with names so close (WROOM-02D vs WROOM-02-N4) such an important detail is different...

That should hopefully do it... also needed to go to a dual UART as the ESP WROOM has two serials...

For reference, this board replaces this Ethernet adapter (based on ENC28J60)... ... and I just notice there may be a problem on this board with a conflict with the SD-card adapter...

A topic that has been on my TODO list for quite a while: how does the Commodore PET video output actually work? In the first part I'm looking at the original and the dynamic PETs with discrete logic video output: youtu.be/pwb5GvmoAFE #8bit #mos6502
