Every walk through Paris makes me think of the builders who manually carved patience into every stone. And I’m starting to realize: someday, future engineers may look at developers work the same way.

Think you can tell if a social media account is a bot? What about as AI gets better? A new paper—co-authored with researchers from ~20 orgs, & my OpenAI teammates Zoë Hitzig and David Schnurr—asks this question: What are AI-proof ways to tell who’s real online? (1/n)

We’re starting to roll out advanced Voice Mode to a small group of ChatGPT Plus users. Advanced Voice Mode offers more natural, real-time conversations, allows you to interrupt anytime, and senses and responds to your emotions.

Awesome to see this initiative going forward. Huge step to see both Meta & OpenAI following C2PA protocol. @X when is your turn ? It would be a great addition to community note, specifically before US election !
Images generated in ChatGPT and our API now include metadata using C2PA specifications. This allows anyone (including social platforms and content distributors) to see that an image was generated by our products. help.openai.com/en/articles/…

We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo. We are collaborating to figure out the details. Thank you so much for your patience through this.

Tweeps...after 5 years at Twitter, I have made the difficult decision to leave, and today is my last day! This thread is about my experiences : I joined Twitter after the acquihire of Tribe Inc, a startup backed by Sequoia, where I was working on live video streaming. Tribe was an exciting startup made up of a dozen French talents, living the American dream in Jennifer Lopez's house in Beverly Hills as our home office. Best job ever, haha 😅! After the acquihire, I began my Twitter journey with the Periscope team, where I had the privilege of working with the best engineers and colleagues ever! At the time, I didn't yet realize how fortunate I was to join this specific team, which was like a startup within a big corporate company. After sunsetting Periscope, we formed a founding team that ultimately created Twitter Spaces. This team was like a family. We all cared about each other and worked super hard on Spaces as if it was our own startup, our baby. Spaces was challenging because we were competing against a fast-scaling startup, Clubhouse, as well as other giants attempting to disrupt the audio live industry such as Spotify, Facebook, and even Amazon. In Spaces, I had the opportunity to lead and build the Android side of this project, beating Clubhouse to market. Today, I feel so proud of us, as we can confidently say that Twitter Spaces has won the majority of the audio live marketplace and is used today to host important conversation such as US Presidential conversation. Both Periscope and Spaces felt like working in a startup within a big company. It was both challenging and exciting. We needed to be leaner, faster, more adaptable, and know how to break processes. In November 2022, Elon Musk acquired Twitter, and since then, I have been living in a kind of TV show. Every day was a new episode with a set of new dramas. Ultimately, the startup mindset I had, in addition to the impact I had on Twitter with Spaces, NFT Profile Picture, Tweet-Auto Translate, and others, helped me navigate Elon's acquisition and survive dozens of layoffs. Many people have asked me why I didn't leave Twitter after Elon's acquisition. Although it may disappoint some of my colleagues, the truth is that I was genuinely excited to observe and be a part of the acquisition from within, whether or not I agreed with the leadership. It's not every day that you get to witness a company undergo such significant changes and attend meetings with Elon Musk himself. In addition, I really loved Twitter product and was excited about the new direction that the product was taking. In fact, I was actually working and writing about these subjects even before Elon's acquisition, and I strongly believe that Twitter should take the road of being THE human platform where you can differentiate between a human and a fake one, an image taken from the lens of a camera and an AI-generated image, a true news and a fake one, etc. ( cf : medium.com/@madaaflak/a-visi… ) However, the past six months were really difficult, not because of the amount of work I needed to deliver, which I was used to doing in Spaces, but because of the mental and psychological burden. Nevertheless, my curiosity about Twitter's transformation and my strong belief in the necessity of having a more democratic and verified social network kept me going, and I remained persistent. In Twitter 2.0, I did my best to contribute to projects I am passionate about, such as TwitterCoin, ID Verification, and Media Verification, from which I learned a lot. Leaving Twitter was an incredibly tough decision because I have a genuine love for this product. However, my main takeaway is that the true essence of a company lies in its people and the team that forms it: I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the amazing individuals I had the opportunity to work with over the past few years. I am confident that many of us will cross paths again in the future. ❤️ Lastly, I am thrilled to announce that I am joining @OpenAI and I feel sooooooooo excited about it ! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Having a strong interest in e-governance and safeguarding freedom of speech, I have composed an article with the intention of offering solutions to establish trust in online media in the era of AI. This article serves as a personal reflection, and all opinions expressed within are my own. Additionally, I have included a mocked video demonstrating a conceptual implementation of these technologies on Twitter. medium.com/@madaaflak/trust-…

From AI-generated images to manipulated videos, it’s common to come across misleading media. Today we’re piloting a feature that puts a superpower into contributors’ hands: Notes on Media Notes attached to an image will automatically appear on recent & future matching images.

IMHO, this should have been implemented years ago. This is what Bitclout was all about, for instance.
If you enjoy brainstorming about products, have an interest in Twitter, and are intrigued by e-governance, I'd appreciate your input. In the article linked below, I propose the concept of a digital currency for Twitter, known as Twitter Coin. Last year, I penned an article emphasizing the significance of moving towards a more verified internet. As these concepts gain traction and become more mainstream, I've decided to delve deeper into these ideas that I've been contemplating. Here's the link to my article "Twitter as a Country": medium.com/@madaaflak/twitte……. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. PS: This article is written for personal reflection. Delving into the world of image verification with #c2pa and discovering its significance in combating fake news and disinformation. It's unfortunate to see that this technology is not yet widely adopted, but I'm hopeful that it will become more prevalent in the future.
