After more than 3 decades in computing I'm finally using a Mac for the first time and... you people are nuts. What you call "fullscreen" and "window management" is horrible and insane. Give me sane tiling wm any day over this stuff.

An agent writes the code now. Do you still need an IDE? You do if you want to understand and verify what the agent did. 🎥 In our new video, we talk about the role of an IDE now that humans aren't the only ones working on the code. youtu.be/AHFGMkzrfwM

I begin to notice that human readable text doesn't nearly compose as good as code when merging conflicting text files. Maybe we should use this code thing to instruct computers instead of English...

I remember excessive "prettifier" configs when doing TypeScript work. So I understand that the idea of "just add linting rules" to lock down a codebase sounds straight forward. Unfortunately, I don't think other languages have the same linting support as JS and TypeScript.

Cool that codex adopted F2 to view warnings. Clearly IntelliJ IDEA fans at work.

Give us this day our daily claude-ism.

So, we apparently "just" need to make it impossible to write "bad" code in our codebases and suddenly AI agents will produce only "good" code. Why has nobody thought about this in the pre-AI era? It's so obvious, isn't it?

If by now everyone has proudly uninstalled their IDEs etc., why is the "developer mac book" still a thing? Just to show off at the local Starbucks?

Hey @Devoxx, I know you have a lot of great options, but why not stop by the @jetbrains booth for some demos... #Devoxx #IntelliJIDEA @intellijidea

Last Chance, come by tomorrow at the JetBrains booth and ask me about Hibernate Debugger. (Or complain about something, also fine)
Once in a lifetime chance: I'll be at #devoxx Belgium next week. Come by and complain about your favorite IDE to me. I'll show you something cool about #jpa in return.

5.6 Sol was my daily driver. There was no task it couldn't solve at reasonable budget usage. Then they nerved it and eventually gave us 6 Sol which doesn't compete at all. Somehow now a 100$ OpenAI sub feels less usable than a 20$ Claude sub.

NeoVim + IntelliJ IDEA backend for Java & Kotlin. Very experimental and rough around the edges, but already a lot of fun! 🔥 Who wants to give it a try? @ThePrimeagen @teej_dv @sudobunni @Folke @nicknisi @joshmedeski @Exosyphon @elijahmanor @dillon_mulroy @lewis6991 @echasnovski @justinmk @Neovim

Not sure if it was a bug but recently codex started to display the internal model monologue instead of its "working..." banner for me. It's rather eye-opening what those text generation models go through to simulate intelligence.

I wonder how much or idea of model capability is just "a feeling" in our brains. GPT Sol let me down yesterday with some bad outputs and now I suddenly "feel" that Opus 5 would be way smarter.

Humanity has the smartest frontier models at its hands. Yet, programmers still use regex.
38
Huh, codex CLI now has "queued questions"? Never noticed this before. Rather neat that the agent can stay busy and at the same time do a "here's a related question for you" prompt.
40
What did they do to my boy "gpt 5.6 sol"? It now also started to feed basic operations through multi line python scripts. That's not how sol acted for the last weeks.
