BILD reports that the pilot of an aircraft diverted to Leipzig told passengers that three drone sightings had been reported. A passenger on board confirmed the announcement to BILD.
Germanyβs Federal Police separately confirmed that several people observed a drone at the airport.
Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed if any drones were present.
π©πͺ BREAKING: Berlin Brandenburg Airport temporarily closed its airspace tonight after a drone was spotted near the airportβs northern runway.
The drone was reportedly observed at around 20:00, with the airspace closed from 20:20 until 21:05. Several incoming aircraft were diverted while departures and arrivals were halted.
Tonightβs incident comes amid a significant drone problem at BER: German air traffic control recorded 28 drone sightings around the airport in the first half of 2026 alone - the highest number of any German airport.
There is currently no information on the operator, origin or intent of tonightβs drone.
