Everyone knows the iconic appearance of the Space Shuttle - its a vehicle we've all seen a million times. You know they have different names but that's where the differences end for most people.
Today, I'm going to show you they're more unique than you think. (🧵1/15)

📢Combinators were introduced in December 1920, by Moses Schönfinkel.
🔥Aged 32, he had just invented and presented for the very first time a formalism for universal computation!
⚠️ This was 16 years before Lambda Calculus (Alonso Church) and Turing machines (Alan Turing)! 👀
After implementing Church-numerals, I've found a way to define the Factorial combinator in SKI combinators calculus.
This is using my Forth implementation of SKI Calculus on AlexForth for 6502!
(8! is the biggest factorial I can compute as AlexForth is 16bit)

I know it's weird, but sometimes I really need to refrain myself from saying "Thanks so much your amazing" to Github Copilot!
It's so F-ing amazing!!

I'm wondering who voted for "RPN is counter intuitive", but didn't explain his/her choice :(

Forth, Joy, Lambda Calculus, SKI Calculus...
cc @dcreager amazing talk! BTW gotta check this UXN, I happen to have a pygamer console, hopefully I can upload some UXN game to start with and then modify/adapt/learn!!

My last calculator acquisition: a pristine Hewlett-Packard HP-16C for Computer Scientist, made in USA 🇺🇸 in 1984, with its user manual (in French, but that's not an issue 😂).
40yo, works perfectly!

AI naysayers can hate all they want, IMHO: their loss!
I'm conviced the world will soon be split: Those we know how to leverage AI, and those who will regret not surfing the AI wave on time.
Retroprogramming be like in 2024... I'm back to Alexforth for 6809. Haven't looked at it for month, I'm a bit oxidated... But no problem, Github Copilot is there to help!
Look at that! Perfect
Now look, I ask for a new subroutine, just saying what it should do (randomly, I haven't thought about it much). It even writes it in my own source style, using my custom macros! Ready to insert in my code with a click!
