Britain has never banned the Muslim Brotherhood or called it a terrorist organisation, not once. Robin Simcox, the government's former independent adviser on extremism, wrote in August that he watched it run a network built to reshape society from the bottom up, feeding grievance over "Islamophobia" and hiding behind interlocking charities, companies, NGOs and media outlets, and that in four years he could not get Whitehall to build work against it that would survive a reshuffle.
The last real government review of the Brotherhood came out in 2015, and nothing lasting came of it. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has the file, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has the power. The excuses are finished.
BTW, the Muslim Brotherhood is banned in the UAE.
