Alistair Docherty has been broke countless times. He’s missed his Tour card by 1 at Q-school. And by one over an entire season. 10 yrs after turning pro he’s reached the PGA Tour
He talks about his family and the journey

A full-circle moment for Alistair Docherty and his dad ❤️
Docherty's dad was on the bag for his first Mackenzie Tour event. He once again brought him inside the ropes to walk down the 72nd hole together @KFTChampionship.

What a day for our guy @adocherty16. 3rd place at the KFT championship today!
Narrowly came up short a few times but survived a serious car crash, regrouped, & played his way onto the PGA Tour for next year. Best is yet to come 🙌. pgatour.com/korn-ferry-tour/…

The most important, pressure filled shot in golf last week, came with almost no one watching. It wasn't on TV and there weren't any tweets about it.
But it likely saved a career.
Joe Weiler came into last weeks KFT event 98th in points. The top 100 moved on to the third week of KFT finals, more importantly, getting into that event meant you had at least conditional KFT status for 2027.
Finish outside the top 100 and its back to first stage and no status. Miss at Q-school and its either mini-tours or the end of the road.
After a bad double on his 14th hole and another bad bogey on the next Weiler was one outside the cut. Miss the cut and he was projected to finish 101st.
This is Weiler's fourth full season on KFT, the last two he has easily kept his card. And last year he married his longtime girlfriend Sophie. He hadn't made a decision about what would happen if he lost status, but mini-tour life at 29 seemed out of the question.
I asked him if he felt like his career was on the line those last 4 holes Friday. His answer was short, honest, and perfect.
"Its all I could really think about."
On the par three 8th (his 17th) the pin was tucked on the front of the green, just a few paces from the water guarding the green. Weiler hit it to 9 feet. Joe told me it was the most nerves hes ever felt over a putt.
Joe's parents, his father in law, and "a couple more people who had no idea what was happening" were the only people around the green.
The downhill putt dropped for birdie.
He parred 18 to make the cut on the number. Career saved, season saved, and at least some status for next season locked up.
His dad told me "Its incredible to watch careers come down to one shot, one putt, one stroke over an entire season. I'm very proud of Joe for his grit."
Weiler shot 66-70 on the weekend and moved up to 94th in points. He will need a great week to get into the top 60 and secure full status, but any move upwards in points helps improve his conditional status for next season.
And that is the golf people don't see on TV.

It's not the destination that defines you. It's the journey that defines you. Alistair Docherty is living proof.
Twice one shot short of a @PGATour card, Docherty is now TourBound.

Never abandon your dreams ❤️
At times he stretched his last dollars to keep his career alive. Then he missed his PGA Tour card by one shot TWICE in the same year.
But Alistair Docherty (@ADocherty16) kept fighting, and now he is heading to professional golf's highest level.
With nine top-25 finishes this season including a victory, the 11th-year pro has clinched his @PGATour card for 2027!

Alistair Docherty (@adocherty16) stayed patient, trusted his process and made four birdies coming down the stretch to force a playoff.
Now, he's taking that same mindset into this week as he looks to solidify his @PGATOUR card.

Shoutout @adocherty16 and the season he has put together on the KFT ... dude has all but locked up a card after a couple of really tough years coming so, so close to the show. He never gave up, kept grinding, kept getting better and he's on the doorstep. Pro golfer motivation.
