This thread nails it. Summer of Soul is the film of the year for me so far. An amazing cinematic experience at a theater. Seen twice already. It’ll be on Hulu forever, see in a theater if possible.
There are few things better than @jessicakiang writing furiously from Cannes. Can’t wait to see this one. Great review Jess 👏👏👏

Revisited this recently and it’s just fantastic. Really holds up, Keanu is such a great god damn movie star.

this insanely stacked Cannes lineup has me all excited. Cinema is coming back and this is another step forward. Can’t wait to start showing some (hopefully many) at Cinema 21 when they make their way to US theaters. theplaylist.net/2021-cannes-…

Big thanks to @PureCinemaPod for turning me on to Zulawski’s insane and incredible sci-fi epic ON THE SILVER GLOBE. Was able to track down a copy and this film is fantastic and overwhelming even in its unfinished form.
Just a reminder that both of our episodes on the Cinema of David Lynch as well as our @NeverMadeFilm crossover about his unrealized ‘Ronnie Rocket’ are all available now. That’s almost 10hrs of Lynchian goodness!

Few others worth keeping: Silence of the Lambs; LOTR Return of the King; The Departed; Moonlight; Gladiator; Braveheart; Schindler’s List
The #Oscars are almost upon us. Our challenge: Pick just 3 films to keep from the last 40 Best Picture winners...
Anyone out there know if @ShoutFactory has plans to re-issue #Manhunter on Blu-ray? I’m bummed I missed my chance before it sold out. Can’t find anywhere. Anyone, maybe? shoutfactory.com/product/man…
I’m 3 episodes in to @GangsOfLondonUS and I’m all in. Super densely plotted, crazy good action scenes and even the over the top performances really work for me. This show is great.
Despite the otherworldly excellence of the brawls and foot chases, Gangs of London is not a “pure action” series, writes @mattzollerseitz vult.re/3umPIg5
I can’t recommend enough The Mole Agent, streaming on Hulu now. This review calls it perfect and in some ways I agree. Either way, check it out. It’s good for the soul. theplaylist.net/mole-agent-s…
