As @ahugheswriter and I worked together on this book, she recorded our conversations. It led to us realizing that we basically had "behind the scenes" video of the writing of the book. Which is pretty cool!

Five things that work by changing the room instead of changing you. Save this one. 1. Name the friction out loud, without the verdict. Say the task. "I cannot start unpacking the suitcase." Not "I am so lazy." A landmark 2007 study found that putting feelings into words lowered amygdala response and raised activity in a prefrontal region tied to regulation. That study labelled emotions in a scanner, not chores in a hallway, so the extension is mine. 2. Move one object to where the task actually happens. Cleaning supplies live under the sink, which is exactly where your brain cannot see them. Mine lives in the tub. 3. Put the people you keep meaning to text somewhere you physically walk past. Not an app. A photo, on the fridge. 4. Schedule the nothing. I pitched fifteen minutes a day from a stage in Austin. I am closer to an hour now. The length was never what mattered. Dropping the guilt was. 5. Redesign around the behaviour instead of correcting it. If the socks come off in the hallway every day, the hallway needs a basket. None of these require more discipline than you already have. That is the whole point. The research behind each one: thevibewithky.com/2026/08/05…
