Anyone under 30 today can have no real conception of what it was like to live in Britain in the late 1990s, & what Britain's place in the world was.

In Shepshed’s by-election, right-wing parties combined for 60.8% of the vote.
Labour still won with 32.7%.
The right wing must unite, or be defeated. It’s that simple.

NORWAY: According to recently released police figures, ALL reported rapes in Oslo over the last three years were committed by non-Western immigrants.
Not 20% or even 50%. But 100% of rapes. Let that sink in.
Europe is committing suicide.

Imagine that there was a tax on every book sold, the revenue from which went to a single favoured publisher. Or suppose that anyone who owned a device capable of playing music – a phone, a tablet, smart speakers, a car stereo – was obliged to pay £174.50 a year to a single state-sponsored record label.
Even these analogies do not do justice to the utter absurdity of the BBC licence fee. A more exact parallel would be to imagine a Mural Display Tax, whereby anyone with a wall in their house had to transfer money to a government-backed art gallery on grounds that their wall was capable of having pictures hung on it.

BREAKING
The mother of Henry Nowak’s murderer is set be to released early this December thanks to Labour.
That would be 1/3rd the way through her sentence. This is an insult to decency.
She disposed of the murder weapon. She should serve her sentence in full and then be deported.

🚨👉SO….we still have Tory MP’s who refuse to vote against the ECHR.
Two words: ‘Vote Reform’
Dr Adrian Steele 🏴 retweeted
It’s because loads of Tory MPs oppose leaving the ECHR and are simply waiting for a new leader.

The EU can’t believe its luck.
Burnham is going cap in hand to Brussels for no good reason, determined to give concessions in return for a pile of nonsense.
They’ll eat him alive.
Andy Burnham expected to tell the Commons it would be a "dereliction of duty" to turn down a closer relationship with EU

Why is Andy Burnham rushing to scrap photo ID checks for voting?
Disgraceful.

The Tories had 14 years a f*cked it.
Restore are not going to win.
The right has united around Reform UK.
Voting Restore because you like Lowe or voting Tory because of past loyalties is an indulgence this country cannot afford.

A lesson in irony…
You won’t need photo ID to vote … BUT you will need facial scans and biometric ID to discuss it online
End of lesson.

Photo ID needed to:
– collect a parcel
– open a bank account
– rent a flat
– buy a bottle of wine
Photo ID not needed to:
– choose who runs the country
Andy Burnham is in a hurry to keep it that way. This STINKS of election fraud. 😡
'John Healey resigned because you wouldn't get to 3% by 2030. Now he's a Chancellor presiding over 2.7%!'

It wasn’t that you “couldn’t” solve it. You just chose not to. The same views shared by most of your fellow Tories.
The small boats crisis has gone on longer than WWII. I will always regret that I could not solve it.
We have to show people the journey is pointless. Rwanda was criticised as a fantasy, but the real fantasy is thinking you can stop the boats without it.
For some time I had said that if forced to choose between membership of the ECHR and our national and border security, I would pick the latter.
During my tenure, attempting to leave the ECHR with only two years left in the parliament and with no mandate to do so would have been a recipe for constitutional chaos. You couldn't resolve all the issues thrown up by leaving in 24 months with a fractious parliamentary party, a sceptical House of Lords and limited diplomatic capital. Other countries can read our opinion polls.
With the help of KCs, we'd done extensive work on leaving. The plan was to say in the election campaign that we'd seek radical reform of the convention and the court, and leave if that could not be achieved quickly.
Like so many things in that campaign, it didn't go to plan, and we dropped the idea after Nigel Farage entered the race, for fear it would be dismissed as a panic move and make it harder to focus the election on tax and the economy.
With a mandate, a majority and a five-year term, it would be very different, and worth doing.
My Sunday Times column today looks at how 👇
