Someone just drew this to my attention. It's a post from NEAR, presumably in response to my previous post, and in fairness it must be shared.
xitter.cf/NEARProtocol/status/21…
Among the findings they have a dashboard that shows their server cluster now has 16, not 8 nodes as I was informed, and they are run by different parties.
This does not, of course, reduce concerns about backdoors, the ability of NEAR to upgrade the software of those "MPC" nodes directly and the ability to use such software updates to extract the key shares if they wished, the use of a trusted dealer to distribute the private key shares in the first place, and all of the other things that a truly decentralized setup addresses.
That being said:
1) Sharing keys over 16 nodes is much better than over 8 (we prefer around 50).
2) They state that the operators of these nodes include Sovereign AI, Bitwise, Nansen, Greenfield, Everstake, Near One, and Luganodes, which is good. It's not clear if there are 16 different operators though, which is what you want.
3) They reference a strong technical description of their TEE architecture github.com/near/mpc/blob/mai…. So long as this is implemented on the nodes, and the node operators are actively using attestation to check the software NEAR is running on these nodes, that reduces the risks involved.
I am not aware of when they moved from 8 nodes to 16.
None of this reduces our key concern that their system has been powered by our proprietary tech all this time.
Further, their post also talks about another thing they have released in 2025: CKD, or Confidential Key Derivation.
This is basically vetKeys, an Internet Computer technology that does exactly the same thing, and it works the same way too!!
We published how to do this in 2023: eprint.iacr.org/2023/616
However, this isn't protected afaik, so they have no worries there, but they should have contacted us first AND referenced our work. That's the respectable way to work in the fields of computer science and open source.
We wish NEAR well, but they cannot just steal proprietary DFINITY tech.

Ha! DFINITY ran on BambooHR, but we switched to Open HR just 3 weeks ago (part of the Open SaaS suite of free "AIware" you can install on ICP cloud engines to run enterprises).
Tamperproof, unstoppable, with AI inside... general availability soon with the cloud engine unlock.
At this point $ICP should be mooning by now 🚀
🚨ALARMING: Up to 70% of the world's websites could be at RISK after AI researchers uncovered PHP2Shell, a CRITICAL security flaw in PHP, per WSJ.
The vulnerability could allow hackers to hijack unpatched servers, steal sensitive information and launch attacks against website visitors.
PHP is widely used by WordPress, government portals and e-commerce websites.
Two reported vulnerabilities carry a SEVERE 9.2/10 rating and could allow attackers to remotely execute malicious code without authentication.
The latest developments:
🇫🇮 FINLAND: Shuts down state internet services over the security flaws.
🇳🇱 NETHERLANDS: National cybersecurity agency takes its website offline.
🇫🇷 FRANCE: Temporarily shuts down prefecture websites pending security fixes.
CLOUDFLARE ($NET): Reports early attacks and says protective changes are LIVE.
Emergency patches were released a DAY EARLY after vulnerability details leaked.
EU cybersecurity officials are urging IMMEDIATE patching and advising operators to take vulnerable sites offline if fixes cannot be applied.
The biggest concern is that AI could accelerate the development of exploits, potentially allowing hackers to weaponize the vulnerabilities before millions of websites can be secured.

This is craazy. I asked one of our PhD engineers to look into NEAR *Confidential* Intents wondering how they designed their system. Unredacted, word-for-word, this was his answer 😱😱😱
"Everything I found out about the privacy claims and confidential intents is so bad that it seems almost comical and I cannot believe what I am seeing. Apparently they run a completely separate instance of the protocol, which is called FAR (as an opposite to NEAR), and that has a permissioned operator set. The entire confidentiality claim seems to rest upon the fact that it is a permissioned chain and the nodes are trusted to keep things private, there doesn't seem to be any deep technology behind it and it also does not seem to be open source. The entities running the nodes are also not publicly known.
I almost feel weird writing this because it is so absurdly bad that it feels like ... I don't know ... a simulation? I know the usual level of overpromising in Web3 but this is so many levels beyond believable that it still feels unreal."
.@dominic_w @PierreSamaties @dfinity you should join this hackathon to get a pilot testing with licensed financial entities in the UAE.
Internet Identity with financial verifiable credentials would be a good start for UAE to recognize $ICP
Its only for organizations with a working product so take a look...

Chat with your ICP apps directly from within ChatGPT.
The Internet Computer plugin was just added to the @OpenAI ChatGPT plugin directory.
It connects ChatGPT to apps on the Internet Computer. From a chat, it can read their data and make changes, across more than one app at once.
Ask:
"Is the end of the month too busy for a family holiday?"
"Book a 1:1 with Alex in August on a day we're both free."
"Sort my to-do list and tell me what's next."
Search 'Internet Computer' under ChatGPT plugins.

.icp domains are coming. They just passed @ICANN's first review.
@dfinity's rule: every .icp website must be hosted on the Internet Computer, with a digital seal on each page that anyone can check.
Break it, and after a warning the site goes offline.
Would you use .icp, or stick with .com? 👇 #ICP
Companies have .com. Organizations have .org.
Our application for .icp passed @ICANN’s initial review and is now public in the 2026 new gTLD round.
The Internet Computer extends the internet. If approved, sovereign software and AIware get their own top-level domain.
Let there be .icp

🔥Open SaaS on $ICP
Current Architecture
22 applications in the Open SaaS suite
Minimum 2 canisters per application: one frontend canister and one backend canister
Total: 44 canisters per suite
Each application runs on the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), enabling a decentralized, self-hosted SaaS ecosystem with full ownership and control.

DFINITY Stiftung is in the running for the web extension .icp $ICP
ICANN published its 2026 new gTLD applications on 7 October. Among the 1,615 active bids is one from the Swiss foundation behind the Internet Computer for the string icp (application DS2698T-T60168).
If it clears review and is delegated, .icp will be a real top-level domain. Sites and apps could then use addresses like name.icp in the normal DNS, alongside .com or .app

"The question every government asks now is how to keep meaningful resilience around their national data."
AI is changing how software gets built and how services reach people, and countries are choosing the infrastructure they will run on in the middle of it.
Ali Theyab Al-Zuhairi shared his thoughts on what the UNDP brings to that choice: trust. He calls it the real currency.

Only the tip of an iceberg folks 🔥 The Internet Computer is the 1st network providing core, mainstream technological utility, not a token database.
The world needs sovereign, tamperproof cloud that turbocharges AI: ICP is the first breakout network since Bitcoin and Ethereum.
🚨YESTERDAY, DFINITY HELD A CALL ABOUT BUILDING DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ENTIRE NATIONS! $ICP
On the call were Pakistan's Digital Authority as well as the UNDP where they spoke on using $FOR sovereign cloud, AI and government apps.
Pakistan is already testing it. The UN wants to help bring the model to more countries.
Very few crypto projects are even aiming at national digital infrastructure!
