A jihad ten times larger but like this was funded and armed by the ummah in the kashmir valley of the 90s, which got tamed, neutered and dismembered by the mighty Hindu army of India. Chechens, Arabs, Bosnians, Iraqi, Afghan and Punjabi mujahideen began barging into the valley armed to teeth as Kashmiri militants worked as their scouts & local network. It was based on this militia’s presence that JKLF declared total jihad against India and Kashmiri Hindus. ISI worked closely in coordination as overseas handlers of jihad. It was in these conditions when the law & order collapsed and GoI imposed the AFSPA. Indian military began heavy offensive against Islamist forces where every district became a battleground to reclaim Kashmir. The fight was bloody to the point that regiments and officers began developing rivalries in the kill count. Psychological warfare from both sides intensified with decapitation, burning of camps and fidayeen attacks rising like never before. Army ensured total humiliation of jihadis at the hands of mushrik Hindus before obliterating them, a tactic to demoralise local population into submission. It took a decade for Hindu arms to decimate the vritrasur of Islamic jihad in the valley, which rattled Pakistan so much that Musharraf couped against the government and launched invasion of kashmir as a first thing after takeover in 1999.
