I’m always impressed when people discover new heights in a career path that everyone assumes has a “cap”.
Nathan Fielder was already the new hit “Silly Camera Guy.” Every few years a new one emerges after people get sick of the humor of the last guy—like Sasha Baron Cohen, Eric Andre, Tim & Eric, and Tom Green.
But what’s remarkable is that he used his 15 minutes of fame to break out of “Silly Camera Guy” and prove that he is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time.

Looking at some of the takes on the hyperlocal service marketplace, I can share three reasons why consumer marketplaces can look like cash guzzlers in the early part of their journey.
1. Supply precedes demand - Supply is built ahead of demand. Utilisation currently will be, but you still need to pay for capacity to serve the unpredictable / growing demand.
2. You lower the cost of trial to open up the funnel and often subsidise the user journey until a habit is formed.
3. Fixed costs are generally front-loaded. The in-house tech team and infrastructure needed to serve a few thousand users is not materially different from what you need to serve a few million.
I haven’t looked at the underlying numbers, and can’t comment on what is justified.
But surprised by the reactions to the absolute burn numbers. High upfront burn is almost a feature of building these marketplaces.
Questions on end state unit economics are probably more relevant than just the size of burn.
Good point. The counter culture to cringe is deadpan.

Seiko put a television on your wrist in 1982. The TV Watch still looks like a piece of retro-futurist technology.
Tamil Cinema - New Wave Alert 🚨
It's a common feeling among Tamil cinema lovers right now that it's been a long time since we’ve had so many exciting Tamil films running in theatres at the same time.
The last time I remember feeling this way was around 2012–14, when films like Pizza, Soodhu Kavvum, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom and Jigarthanda were coming out one after another. It really felt like Tamil cinema was on the cusp of a new wave.
Now, 10-15 years later, I can feel some of that excitement again.
There’s something wonderful about the kind of original stories and films coming out right now.
It's beautiful to see the mix of filmmakers behind this. People from that earlier wave, like @karthiksubbaraj and Balaji Tharaneetharan, are back to making incredibly exciting content, while a whole new generation of filmmakers and writers has emerged - Raja Laruppasamy, @Dir_SivakumarM @MathiMaaran and Ashwin Ravichandran amongst others.
This time, the opportunity is different. Audiences are already watching films across language boundaries. And with the combination of social media, and global OTT catalogs, a movie can quickly escape the confines of a region and find audience globally.
There’s a feeling that something special might be happening again. And perhaps, this time, the wave could become much bigger.
We really need to have this excitement translates into commercial success too.
So - like many other folks are saying - we should all try to watch at least one or two films from this current crop in theatres. Talk about them, recommend them, promote them online. And when they arrive on OTT, help them travel further.
Manifesting a new wave for Tamil Cinema ✨

I am going to make a group chat full of people hacking insanely cool things onto hardware.
Reply or retweet and I’ll add you to the chat.
I have discovered $50 amazon photo frames to be the PERFECT home display screen
They can be rooted, updated to run a modern browser, have WiFi and can be powered from USB
1280×800 resolution with a nice touch screen
I detailed how to hack these yourself in my latest video

A big thank you to Kerala for showering #Baththa with so much love! ❤️ I truly wish I could be there with you all, but I’m sending my love from afar. Keep the love coming and continue showering our film with your blessings! ❤️🙏

When a genre becomes mainstream, it doesn’t disappear. It morphs into other subgenres.
Detective fiction went from Sherlock Holmes to The Mentalist to True Detective. Superheroes went from Superman to Nolan’s Batman to The Boys.
While some filmmakers respond to genre overkill by moving to an entirely different genre, others challenge its conventions from within, bending the same genre into something completely new.
That’s what Baththa is doing to gangster cinema right now.

Calling this film extraordinary would be an understatement. Out-of-the-box, out-of-this-world! How fittingly does it use a happy occasion as a backdrop to tell the coming-of-age of two central characters — one, a little boy; the other, a "fearsome" man who had, for the longest time, suppressed his tender side until a chance encounter with the former. How masterfully does it flip the meaning and emotion behind certain images based on shifting moods caused by the characters' psychological evolution! And who would've thought that the recurring image of a piece of paper from a boy's notebook, which was a source of considerable anxiety for a while, would induce a wide smile at, maybe, the most beautiful closing shot I've seen in recent memory? Among the finest of Vijay Sethupathi, Sai Prithviraj (brilliant casting choice), Lijomol Jose, Santhy Balachandran, and Vishnu Govindan, among others. Also, since this movie is set in the year I was born, the "time travel" experience, with several props recalling childhood memories I thought I'd forgotten, to the point of making me tear up (when I wasn't laughing at the unique comical flourishes in other places), made #Baththa even more special.

I have always loved this story, highlighted in @APompliano’s new book which I highly recommend.

this might be one of the best advertisements ive ever seen because it uppercuts 99.9% of the human race square in the jaw.
literal hardest role to hire for rn and every ai startup wants someone
> chronically online (knows trends)
> has taste & can create (new media)
> understands ai & technical
> can execute with quality (operator)
such a small niche of folks who can do this
ive talked to many teams in the past few months who are thinking about this but dont know quite what to call it/have called it everything from brand marketing to comms to storytelling to special projects to content/social
4 high-profile startups in past ~2 weeks have explicitly told me they are stealthily looking to hire for someone in this sort of role
these roles are quietly and quickly exploding if your ear is to the ground!!
been using this for a while and it's incredible.
its going to be the reels moment for office meetings.
You don't understand how BIG this is.
Until now, if you wanted an animated explainer for your product, a pitch or a launch, you either learned After Effects or paid a motion designer and waited.
Claude just shipped Claude Motion. You hand it a report, a chart or just an idea, and it builds a short animation you can download as an MP4.
It writes the animation as code, so you can change any word, number or timing after.
Here's what this actually means if you run a business.
→ Hand it your monthly numbers and get a 30 second animated explainer back
→ Your app's onboarding walkthrough, fully animated, no motion designer
→ Drop it into Higgsfield or Runway and add real footage on top
I've been getting Claude to code motion graphics for a while now, and setting it up was always the hard part.
If you make any kind of video for your business and you're not trying this soon, you're doing it the slow way.

Happy to share that @LumioIN has raised $12 million in Series A round led by @BlumeVentures , with continued support from @Stellaris_VP and @3one4Capital
This funding gives us the opportunity to invest further in our products and software, explore new categories, and strengthen quality and after-sales support as we grow. We also want to give more people the chance to see and try our products before bringing them home.
We’re building Lumio to bring thoughtfully designed devices and better software experiences into Indian homes. We launched our first TVs in early 2025. Today, more than 35,000 households across India have a Lumio product at home. For a young brand, being chosen by customers over legacy brands that have been around for decades is a privilege and a responsibility.
Thank you to our customers for giving a young brand a place in your homes, and for sharing feedback that helps us improve. We’re grateful to our team and partners for the care and work behind every product.
We’re grateful to Blume Ventures for joining us, and to Stellaris and 3one4 Capital for continuing to back us. We’re excited to bring Lumio to more Indian homes and work hard to earn the trust that comes with it.
