To pay attention to the Spirit in a world that monetises our attention, requires an intentionality

POWER says: "I must secure myself, control my environment, & protect my significance."
KENOSIS says: "I can release control, empty the need to dominate, and entrust myself to love."
The difficulty is that power is often a survival instincts, while kenosis feels like surrender.

Just wrapped up my study of Galatians. I love this final comment from F.F. Bruce. So true…
The religious mind is prone to subject itself to regulations; the liberating gospel of sovereign grace is too ‘dangerous’ to be allowed unrestrained course. As Paul became less a figure of controversy, as his memory was venerated and his writings canonized, his teaching was overlaid with a new legalism. When, from time to time, someone appeared who understood and proclaimed the genuine message of Galatians, he was liable to be denounced as a subversive character—as, indeed, Paul was in his own day. But the letter to the Galatians, with its trumpet-call to Christian freedom, has time and again released the true gospel from the bonds in which well-meaning but misguided people have confined it so that it can once more exert its emancipating power in the life of mankind, empowering those who receive it to stand fast in the freedom with which Christ has set them free.

In a tightly contested field, @FIFAcom might just be the most corrupt and inept organisation in the world, however the fact that it was trump who requested FIFA break their own rules to reverse the USA red card, it means trump and the White house keep their noses in front 😂
As someone who has never voted @labour in my life, it was really encouraging to listen to @andyburnham this morning lay out his vision for the dispersal of power.
A message full of hope
And not a single jibe at another politician or party!! Bravo!!
Great thread looking at the facts of why this heatwave is important and why we should take notice
It's good to see the government being effective and delivering. More of this please @UKLabour and less ego driven squabbling.
Migration down, small boat crossings down, NHS waiting lists and ambulance wait times down, economy growing, inflation down.
Keep going!
Seismic decision by the football league and a brave one. Now for the @premierleague to follow suit and kick city out of the league for 115 charges of cheating over a decade.
Wonder if they will be as professional and integrous as the championship??

Resurrection is precisely concerned with the present world and its renewal, not with escaping the present world and going somewhere else; and, in its early Jewish forms right through to its developed Christian forms, it was always concerned with divine judgment, with the creator god acting within history to put right that which is wrong. Only if we misunderstand what resurrection actually involved can we line it up with the kind of ‘pie in the sky’ promises which earned the scorn of many twentieth-century social reformers.

To read the Bible in a Christian manner is to see scripture through the lens of Christ.

When art tries to speak of the new world, the final world, in terms only of the present world, it collapses into sentimentality; when it speaks of the present world only in terms of its shame and horror, it collapses into brutalism.
So appreciative of Rev Benjamin Cremer's voice in this moment we find ourselves. This article is so important in how we understand revelation and recenters us on Jesus rather than Caesar
In my recent article, I explore the context of Revelation 16:16, where a lot of modern ideas of the “battle of Armageddon” come from and share the importance of noticing how the battle is no battle at all.

Christian nationalism is a counterfeit faith. Micah 6 says the lord requires of us that we act justly, love mercy and walk humbly.
Jesus himself commands us to be merciful, and also declared the merciful to be blessed in the new kingdom he is announcing.

Beware of any Christian movement that acts as though the world is full of enemies to be destroyed rather than full of neighbors to be loved.

Prophetic scene
"You start saddling up camels in every country in the Middle East then you better be prepared to spend the next 50 years sifting through sand because this isn't a quick run on the beach, Jed. This is the new world order."
A timely performance from a fellow alumni of mine
