#latepost | From the pitch in the FIH World Cup 2006 Germany to the bench in the FIH World Netherlands & Belgium 2026 Hockey found me at 14. I never truly put it down. In 2006, I walked off the field at the World Cup in Mönchengladbach, Germany, with 169 caps for Pakistan. The player chapter closed. The fire, however, did not. I left home. I chose the harder path: becoming a full-time athlete, then a full-time coach, and taking a long look in the mirror. New countries. New languages. New doubts. Same love for the game. Twenty years later, I stood with our national team at the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026. Different role. Same heartbeat. Player to coach. The dream remained; only the way I serve it changed. To every passionate person reading this: Never give up on what fuels your fire. Believe in yourself even when the room is empty. Discover your purpose and keep pursuing what you love. People will judge you anyway, so be yourself, keep learning, keep moving forward, and stay around positive people only. I am proud of the boy who played. I am proud of the man who coached. Most of all, I am proud I never stopped chasing what makes me feel alive. Int Hockey Federation FIH Academy #lovehockey #lovemyjob #nevergiveup💪 #dreambig

India defeated England and the Netherlands without Harmanpreet and Manpreet which shows the system has been developed. They now have the momentum, and in the World Cup, they could surprise if they stay consistent. It would be wonderful to see an Asian team competing for the World Championships. The remaining Asian teams are focusing on the Asian Games.

And that’s wrapped up for Pakistan. We don’t deserve to be in the Pro League. We can’t hide any longer. I feel pity for these talented boys.

That’s okay, it’s a learning curve. It's boiling hot here, so we decided to watch on television instead of going to the stadium. Hats off to both teams, it was a good contest👍🏻

Thank you @FIH_Hockey

Classic Asian hockey Great result for Team Pakistan We are so proud of them. Asian Games are open 🙌🏼

That's massive, what a start for the boys 👌🏼

Gooooal for 🇵🇰 🫡 What a cracking start to the game 🔥 Common boys

Common boys. 🇵🇰 vs 🇮🇳 We are going to miss @AmmadButt96 @SufyanKhan3722 and @Hannan_shahid09 I finger crossed for you guys 🤞🏼 #FIHproleague

What a drama 🔥 ENG was 2-0 up, but @HockeyAustralia is bouncing back and has gained the bonus points. @jocbartram was absolutely brilliant in this game. Next week will be very interesting for the relegation.

India wins 3-2 against Team Netherlands and earns significant points. Well played to both teams. India deserves this victory. Sometimes coaches cannot prevent a team from losing discipline. Little things make a massive difference.

Indian women's team qualified for the next edition of the Pro League. NZL tried their hardest but the full-time programme always has an edge. Lovely to see two Asian teams 🇨🇳 and 🇮🇳 will be competing against the top teams.

Experience sitting outside, and Spain is using this game for training and development purposes. We should get some points today 🤞🏼 Common boys 🇵🇰

FT: 🇫🇷4 🇯🇵3 What a brilliant semi-final between 8 nations. Japan is improving rapidly and will be among the favourites at the Asian Games. They lack discipline and consistency (Asian Hockey Problem) Next Semi between NZL vs SA. #FIH8Nation

Moving towards relegation 😢, but now the air is cleared, where we are standing and what the standard of high-performance hockey is now.

What a brilliant first half between 🇧🇪 and 🇪🇸, showcasing two different low block zonal block 👌🏼 with higher tactical awareness 🔥 Spain is performing very well against strong Belgium. The second half will be interesting. #FihProLeague2026
