UPDATE: A Dutch activist linked to Palestine Action supporters, who defaced Winston Churchill’s statue in Parliament Square with slogans including “Globalise the Intifada,” “Zionist war criminal,” and red triangles, has been acquitted of criminal damage. A jury at Southwark Crown Court found Olax Outis (also known as Caspar San Giorgi) not guilty. He argued the paint was washable and therefore caused no damage.

Palestine Action activist Caspar San Giorgio who defaced the Winston Churchill statue in Parliament Square, London on 27th February 2026 speaks about the incident.
He spray-painted the statue with red graffiti and said his goal was to be caught so he could use the court as a stage.
This was filmed outside the Royal Courts of Justice on 15th June 2026 when UK Court of Appeal delivered a ruling upholding the government’s decision to ban Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation

Gogglebox star Sandra Martin attended the Jason Arday vigil, and promoted the government petition to make it an offence to publish suspect details before they are charged.
The petition was created by Aleisha Nembhard with currently 258 signatures. It was created on 12 August 2026 and closes on 12 February 2027.
Petition statement:
We want publishing details of a suspect before they have been charged with a crime to be an offence to protect innocent people being destroyed by false allegations. Public naming before charge can cause irreversible harm to innocent people. Some people lose their jobs reputations & mental wellbeing.
Some people’s lives are being torn apart by public accusations before any charge is made. Jobs are lost, families suffer and mental health collapses under judgement for allegations that may never lead to a charge. We therefore call for naming a suspect before they are charged with a crime to be an offence, so people are not destroyed by premature exposure and can keep their dignity while the justice process runs its course.
