I recently decided to take a break from the rat race. My last day at my current gig is Aug 9th (so hit me up if you wanna hang out).
Part of this is just trying to set aside some time for me. But another part of it is just the way that folks are building software these days.
Anyone have a recommended 3D printer for a relative beginner? Looking to make some relatively simple camera tools, learn, practice.

Just announced by @LimitedRunGames is the revival of Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution! This lost Shantae sequel is back in development after nearly 20 years and will be released on an actual GBA-compatible cartridge! youtu.be/u1-fu8loFDY
Couple of nice shots from the Kodak Retina I've been working on. It's not perfect (frame counter still isn't working right). But otherwise the camera is a lot of fun to use, and takes pictures!
Can anyone think of why SigV4 signature validation would fail only for dynamodb? (well within my test service set?) cc/ @dacort
Anyone taught themselves basic machining? I’m considering buying my first lathe and would love resources.
How did creators of small precise machines in the middle of the century manufacture their parts? Take a camera shutter by someone like Compur or even a later Seikosha (or any watch maker for that matter)
I’ve got a terrible cold so I fixed a camera.
This OM-2 is a fabulous little camera. Aperture priority mode, metered agains the film, very accurate, very reliable.
The film advance was jammed and the mirror locked up.
However these instructions weren’t sufficient for me. I needed to position the spring into a small slit on the inside edge of the gear.
NEXT CAMERA! With the retina film test done it’s time to test the next camera in the queue. This one was in the same box. Aperture blades didn’t move correctly. Broke it down and cleaned everything and put it back together.
This is almost a point and shoot, auto aperture and shutter speed (either 1/40 or 1/200 🤣) from a selenium meter.
The focus scale offers only 4 options.
