This post by a friend I admire and respect so much was just brought to the fore again... Thank you so much Angela for this incredible mini-review. I love it. For those who don't know, Peyakow is my second book, a sequel to Mamaskatch: A Cree Coming of Age

It took a lot of bravery, integrity & knowledge that there’s going to be a lot of blowback but Dr. Gem Newman - one of my former students - did it anyways. Hire this guy, tomorrow. winnipegfreepress.com/breaki…

A CBC producer has blown the whistle and revealed the deep bias the public broadcaster has when it comes to its colonial and anti-Palestine slant.

I invite you all to view my new website, for hours of free and enlightening (I hope) entertainment... there's solid info on my 3 books and how to buy them, articles about my work, articles I've written, and most of my music. darreljmcleod.com/
This is a very thoughtful review... a few actual critical comments, which I understood... but nothing about the novel was left to chance. The aspects criticized were deliberate... However, I will be cognizant of these comments in my next novel.
"McLeod is a master of sensory detail as he writes of the food and fun involved. A sex education session involving bananas and condoms will leave you laughing."

Ah thanks so much, my dear friend for reminding folks of my novel. I'm getting so many great informal reviews from readers across the country, all different age groups and backgrounds. I cherish these. Abi, I appreciate your constant support and generosity!
Oh, my dear friend... this means so much to me... that you post this. And to know that my book is carried in Regina, by Indigo... I'm so honored that you're reading my work. I absolutely loved yours! Oh, and that interview we shared. Lovely.

It’s become rote, but I can’t overemphasize that Poilievre impugning *The Canadian Press* as a mouthpiece for Trudeau is indicative of a deeply, irreparably broken worldview. It’s legitimately unhinged. You have to be disconnected from a reasonable shared reality to say that.

I echo your sentiments Jennilee... This is an amazing honor, for which I'm so grateful to CBC, to those who selected our books, and to the wonderful team at Douglas and McIntyre.

Documentaries are supposed to present factual information. An Emmy win is a slap in the face to so many Indigenous people tonight.
Pretendianism is an act of colonial violence and should never be celebrated. We can not denounce it for one, and ignore it for another.

Smart people: what do you do when a media interview (you are being interviewed) is painful? Not nefarious per se but just acutely bad? I just said “I have to catch a flight now” but she was overtly unhappy about it (and ungrateful for my time).
I'm thrilled to be in such great company! Congrats to all... Great work!
