Sports is the new Christianity for the average American You pick your “denomination” (team), dedicate every Sunday to “worship” (sitting on the couch watching them play). You even have “saints” (Hall of Famers) and get into violent altercations with followers of the rival teams. It’s just the new religious sectarianism.
