Still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I have been awarded the @NCICancerBio F99/K00. I can’t shake the feeling that someone like me (Latinx immigrant) has earned such an honor, but I know it’s not just mine. Eternally thankful to everyone who has taken a chance on me.

We're launching a program to get free or heavily discounted Claude usage to scientists, through Claude Teams for Science. If you're a student or researcher in academia or a non profit org, ask your PI to apply. We're starting with 10,000 seats and will expand from there.
Starting today, 10,000 scientists across every field, from math to chemistry to physics and more, can get Claude through our new Claude Team plan for scientists. Standard seats are free, and premium seats with 5x usage limits are $15 per month, an 80% discount, for one year. Claude is becoming increasingly capable of scientific work, with recent progress on problems from advanced physics calculations to protein design. Alongside that progress, we've been investing in the research community: Claude Science launched in June, and our AI for Science program funds high-impact projects with free credits. Today's expansion builds on both. Principal investigators (or equivalent) at academic and nonprofit research institutions can sign up, then add the researchers in their group. Over the coming months, we plan to extend the program well beyond the initial 10,000 seats. Learn more: claude.com/programs/team-pla…

Today I'd like to honor the memory of my mentor and friend, Roger Tsien, born 1952 February 1. Today would have been Roger's 74th birthday. Most know Roger for his 2008 Chemistry Nobel Prize with Shimomura and Chalfie. Roger made GFP into the versatile imaging method it is now.

Raj and I just dropped the 2026 Semper Maior report. 20 years of M&A lessons + a massive deep dive into deal data since 2019. Lot's of hard-earned lessons in here. Read it on your way to JPM before your strategic meetings. Good luck out there! #JPM2026

We analyzed impact of CMS's "experimental" GLOBE/GUARD policies to cap US prices at what other countries pay (answer: backfire). Note: doesn't lower what patients pay... that's a function what insurance gets away with charging sick people out of pocket. rapport.racap.com/all-storie…

PSA: Stop calling macrophages in tissue M1 or M2. These are not states that exist in biology. The only use of M1 is a macrophage cultured ex vivo with LPS and IFNg; and for M2: IL-4/13/10. Macrophages in tissues are highly complex and diverse and do not resemble either of the aforementioned M1/M2 states. M1/M2 language causes confusion and sets the field back. Refer to your macrophages by the molecules they express and the cytokines they make.
