We have a pretty good feeling this might be Hirokazu Koreeda's year.

What's your favorite scene from the live-action of Look Back? Fujimoto:"It's the animation by Yoko Kuno! I could talk about that scene forever. The way Fujino was so overwhelmed by Kyomoto’s illustrations that she stopped drawing reminds me of my own college days."

Also caught Anthony Chen's We Are All Strangers! Crazy to think Ilo Ilo came out over a decade ago. This film felt like 13 years in the making for Anthony Chen.

Still thinking about Koreeda's Look Back. It has to be up there as one of his most well-shot films, right?? The colour palette stands out against each passing season, and the landscapes mirror the likes of Maborosi and Our Little Sister. There was always the live action adaptation curse hanging over his head, with the animated one also being so damn good, but the world he puts on screen makes this one of our favourite Koreeda films in years.
